If you watch Casablanca or Citizen Kane - widely considered some of the greatest films ever made - they seem to consist of nothing but hammy overacting and excruciatingly slow pacing; overall just boring when judged against what is considered good acting and storytelling today. That's not because they didn't know that stuff then or that we don't know that today but because the craft has evolved so much over the decades. Yesterday's top acting is today's overacting. They have to be judged keeping the era in mind. Dilip Kumar is like that I think, a man from a different era. All of the actors back then, Dilip, Sunil, Dev were over the top by today's standards. Probably 50-60 years from now the best of today will seem boring too.

Haven't watched many BW movies of DK...I guess I have only watched Madhumati from that era and then Karma, Shakti , Saudagar and then few songs here and there e.g naina lad jayi hai...etc, - He was alright in those movies...not boring.

I would say Rajendra Kumar/jubilee kumar was really boring - no expressions/action whatsoever 😆

I dunno what's the big deal about him. But most of BW worships him in front of the media. So maybe he is great. 😕I hated his rona-dhona characters. The only movie of his I loved was Kohinoor which was a comedy.

According to an old member who posted here, DK owns expensive property and housing in a very posh area of Mumbai so they revere him because of his financial clout. I believe that because they have all but forgotten the rest of the yesteryear stars. There's no respect for the rest. Parveen Babi was found dead alone in a poor apartment and hardly anyone showed up for her funeral.🤢
