excessive promotions lead to higher expectations.

if the film does not live to its expectations it will surely flop or above average.

More harm than good. Ra.One being the biggest example. You can't just shove something down people's throats constantly and expect them not to purge it out re...

I think it depends

Promotions should be done at a descent level and as Lady dabangg said over promtion increases the expectations which can create a downfall for the movie if it doesn't live up to it

Sometimes audience having no expectations from a movie is beneficial...like Vicky donor, English Vinglish

Well unless it's to do with the budget behind the promotion, I don't see it doing much harm.

For one to realize it does live up to the expectation, they have to go watch the film. That would ensure the film keeps grossing. They might hate it, but film will earn enough by then.

Ra 1 flopped due to the huge budget. Had it been made with about 40-50 crore, it would have been a sure shot hit.

But Ra.One didn't flop per se even though it wasn't a great film...it still had that hit status as far as I know.

It doesn't in terms of business. But yeah the film receives some bashing in case of not meeting expectations ! 😆

Yes because people start expecting a lot from it, which is always negative.
