Has anyone even read literature on Feminism? I don't blame folks who have termed the concept as "Nazism". My worst mistake throughout college was attempting to major in Women Studies. I went in it with an open mind, yet Feminism is anything but free. It subjects women that go thru plastic surgeries, it subjects women that value religion, and it subjects women that basically take care of themselves. I hate it with a passion, and I AM a woman...maybe I am not THE woman according to this bitch of a study called feminism, but I AM. Feminism has detractors because I have realized that it doesn't advocate for equality, it advocates for superiority and any chance it gets, it mocks the conservatives, it mocks the women that value any sort of choice and liberty.

But yea, I highly doubt Anushka has read anything upon it. It's just a term she's throwing out.

Like any other 'ism' Feminism has various groups within itself, and the debates within this group contribute to its flaws. I'm a feminist but I believe in a woman's right to do whatever she wants with her body. But certain feminists think that she shouldn't have to change herself. Some feminists think po*n exploits, others think it can be made to suit feminist suitabilites. I hate it when people say 'Im not a feminist because feminists hate men and I don't do that', etc, etc, I mean seriously at the basic core of it it is about equal rights for women and men. I mean women got their rights like what, 100 years back? It will obviously take us some time to figure out what we want😆 And you will be surprised to know how many of the women who advocate feminism are actually quite religious(Women who express their choice to wear a burqa being one of them)
Just because a certain group of feminists mocks your religious beliefs or choices regarding your appearance, doesn't mean the whole ideology of it is wrong. We got the right to vote didn't we?😆

But yeah if Anushka had read about it, she wouldn't have said this because in most of her movies her characters are pretty liberated. They wear skimpy clothes, have casual sex-woman, you wouldn't have got to do any of that if it hadn't been for feminism. 😆

oh great to know lot of people are against changing the looks and respect natural beauty.
I really hope, all the people who commented against Anushka or any one who went through plastic surgery, experimental looks for her proffession , do not wear make up anti age cream, wigs, straighten hair, curling hair , fake eye lashes etc etc when they step out because they just love their god gifted natural look, natural aging.

I dont think she meant it like that.😆

I think she meant Akira is someone who can relate too b/c she's driven my passion and the motivation to live life to the fullest...very much like Geet from JWM. Akira is way more relatable and realistic than Meera was.

And yeah that clothing was borderline inappropriate but she had that I don't give a damn attitude and that's why it worked. She wasn't skmipy for the same of it but she wore what she did b/c she had the confidence to be herself in all and any situation. Remember that scene where she's hanging with the camera and thinking about sex and SRK is like even in these situations, that's what you think about.😆

If someone gets plastic surgery, what's wrong with that? It's their freaking body, they can do whatever they want with it. Get surgery, get tattoos, get piercings, lose weight, gain weight.. it's her body. I don't understand how this is being related to feminism, but whatever.

Her surgeries did go bad though; and I wish she accepted doing them. A strong woman would be one who does whatever she wants and owning up to them. But alas, this is the glamour world and the audience is all, "AAH PLASTIC SURGERY NOO WE DON'T LIKE PLASTICS!!" so of course she won't own up. She will get judged nonetheless. Also, she has started to look unhealthy with the weight loss and I have critcized her for it + the surgeries; but eh. It's her body after all. I hope she takes care of herself though.

Anyways, at least she owns up to not being a feminist. Many people say they are feminists but then hate on other females for things like.. plastic surgery (when they have the full right to get them). 😛

I agree with you, but Anu was one of the first girls to come around after a long time that was real, humble and full of common sense. She wasn't this ditz and she didn't talk out of her butt. Plus, she was so comfy in her skin and then this industry changed that. I mean look at JLaw...even she has insecurities about her weight and face, but she said that she's never gonna diet and look like a thin girl b/c she loves food too much.😆

I think Anu should have kept herself the way she was...granted she wasn't the most beautiful, but she was real and she was a role model for many girls who have insecurities about their looks b/c not everyone in the world has the msot beautiful face. She should just be happy the way she is and not change b/c that's way more beautiful in my mind.

Just a question: is there something wrong with being called a feminist or being one🤔?

EDIT: Just went through all the pages and saw the discussion and I think I've got my answer.

I took Women and Gender studies for two semesters and there are different branches of feminism. I don't agree with all the branches but I guess, what I took away from it, is that if a woman does something, be it to her body, or towards whatever she aims for, it should be because she chooses to and not because it's been forced upon her. But I loved reading all the discussions you guys had!
