Has anyone even read literature on Feminism? I don't blame folks who have termed the concept as "Nazism". My worst mistake throughout college was attempting to major in Women Studies. I went in it with an open mind, yet Feminism is anything but free. It subjects women that go thru plastic surgeries, it subjects women that value religion, and it subjects women that basically take care of themselves. I hate it with a passion, and I AM a woman...maybe I am not THE woman according to this bitch of a study called feminism, but I AM. Feminism has detractors because I have realized that it doesn't advocate for equality, it advocates for superiority and any chance it gets, it mocks the conservatives, it mocks the women that value any sort of choice and liberty.

But yea, I highly doubt Anushka has read anything upon it. It's just a term she's throwing out.

Anyways, at least she owns up to not being a feminist. Many people say they are feminists but then hate on other females for things like.. plastic surgery (when they have the full right to get them). 😛

That's the whole point of being a feminist though. If you are a true feminist you wouldn't get plastic surgery because feminism teaches you to love yourself for who you are and not buckle under pressure to conform to patriarchal norms of what is considered feminine. That's what the feminists believe.

I don't think feminism teaches you to hate on other women either, does it?. I don't call myself a feminist because I don't like many things it talks of. I am also too unaware of many things it speaks of to call myself one. I'd be ignorant if I did so. I do agree with some parts but not fully. Feminism talks a lot about woman's rights as well, doesn't it? But many things goes against that.. like say plastic surgery. Women have the right to get it. I mean, why shouldn't they? It's their body. But again they're like, "You shouldn't get it!!!!!!!"

I can't speak for all women who get it; but I know some get it just to feel more confident. If my nose bugged me and I didn't like and if I could afford surgery to fix it, I would get it. I'd feel better about myself that way.

I mean, if I was truly chubby the way I am and wanted to lose weight to be more healthy and to feel better, would I be considered "bucking under pressure to conform to patriarchal norms" because I am apparently not loving myself for the way I am? 😕

That's odd. All I know is leave people alone and let them do whatever they want as long as they don't commit crimes and harm others. \m/

@hotmess

^It's a lot more complicated than that. I don't endorse it but according to my understanding, you should not shave your legs, you should not get your nose morphed because you're then conforming to the "ideal" standard of beauty and thus enforcing patriarchy. There's an "ideal" image of femininity in our society, and to fit into that sector, women get "pressured" to alter their existence. Hence, though on the surface it may seem as if women have free will, in "reality" they do not because they were pressured subconsciously by the patriarchal norms to undergo transformation. Some feminists even equate genital mutilation to plastic surgery...yea, go ahead, say what the f**k...because that's comparing oranges and sky...that's how absurd it sounds to me at least.

My entire conflict with this so called study of feminism is that it doesn't promote equality and it attempts to take free will away from women. Why will it not accept women that CHOOSE to not work? That CHOOSE to worship God? That have a different POV regarding sexuality?

Feminism doesn't want to take accountability. If anyone has read any literature on sexuality and domestic violence you will absolutely puke shit on this so called "liberating" ideology.
