Sushant Singh Rajput speaks about the adulation he's received after Kai Po Che! and replacing Shahid Kapoor in a film
He is the new kid on the block with his first film Kai Po Che doing so well at the box office. We chat with Sushant Singh Rajput on being the face of the film, his love Ankita Lokhande and what the future holds for him.
Ques: Your debut film has just released... what kind of responses have you been getting?
Sushant: The film is being liked by one and all and what better response can an actor get for his film? I have earned a lot from this film, the experience and the brothers for life.
Ques: Being the most famous face among the three, you were the face of the promotions. How did you take all the adulation?
Sushant: I am very humbled by all the expectations and I am working hard not to disappoint anyone.
Ques: It has been a while since you left your television show. Do you still keep a track of the show?
Sushant: My love Ankita is still part of the show. She calls me and asks me what was she wearing on the show that day. If I have no answer then I get slaughtered - left right and center.
Ques: You have replaced Shahid Kapoor in one of Aditya Chopra's productions...
Sushant: Well, I don't look it that way. He is a great performer. I just want to make the character my own when I start working on a script. If as an actor you can make people believe in your character, you will not disappoint. It is as easy and difficult at the same time. I am just honestly working hard to achieve it. I hope Shahid likes my performance. We have nearly completed 60-70 per cent of the film.
Ques: What does the future hold for you?
Sushant: Direction is something that I'm very interested in. I wish to make short films and send them to film festivals. I had planned to take few years off and go to the US and do a film-making course. But I don't think I will be able to get that much time now, so I will be learning from my directors.
