The winners is expected and happy about jennifer and dany and LOP is agreat film but foget all these thing .Just look at the huge respect in the award function and how everyone is happy for the other to see the big defference between hollywood and bollywod

it's no big deal for indians to win oscar if you show them dirty little kids fighting in some slum for a piece of bread...show them what they want to see and its(oscar) yours!

I wanted Jessica Chastain to win for Zero Dark Thirty She was bloody brilliant..Emmanuelle Riva comes a close second for her heart wrenching performance in Amour..Jennifer Lawrence was good but the above two were much better..And am so happy for Anne Hathaway..She finally gets her due

Big fan of his work as a director in HW...

Not nominating him for Best Director for Argo is one of the biggest mistake...Even Oscar has W*F nominations/winners...

Have to agree, the general opinion of the westerners about India is limited to slums, the cows on the dirty roads, poor slum people etc. and SDM didn't help that either. It was showing the reality yes, but why only this part of reality. There's another whole different reality that exists but no one ever shows that, a lot of the documentaries, films etc, on India, they all show the "bad" side of India and only a minority know the real deal-there's good and bad like every other country.

Yup.

What's even more sad is that the Indian government allows this to happen. Do you think the Americans, Australians and Europeans would ever let India (or anyone else) show that "bad" side of their countries? I don't think so. Every country has it, (albeit not every place has it as much and as bad as India) but only India lets everyone misuse it.

nope a lot of people think the same way. Slumdog won becoz it was an American film shot in India. if it was an out and out Indian movie. it wouldn't have won anything.

If a movie like mother India didn't win. I doubt any film can win from here. Besides a few exceptions bollywood is producing trash to make money. then who cares abt the oscars.
