Btw, I watched the movie in the cinemas again, loved it just as much and I am still not over it. I am in the process of convincing my cousins to watch this movie on Saturday.😆 I think I might be in love with a movie lol

Quite a few scenes were underplayed ... and left to the viewers to think about ...

Even the death was so sudden .. ki.. I was like ... what?!!! thats it? he just dies? No last words ? No senti dialogues?

And another scene after that with vidya crying on her dad's lap .. it was a very short scene .. but I felt like tearing up .. I was like ... Oh crap .. he never set things right with his son .😭 ...

And poor Vidya and Govind ... were they suffering from the "what if?" syndrome? What if we never started dating ? What if we had told Ishaan everything? What if I (Gov) hadnt given my cell to Ishaan to that moment ? What if I (Vidya) hadnt messaged at that moment ? What if I hadnt made that phone call .. ?

The small scene between Omi and Vidya in the stadium .. aww..😔 ..

Omi probably wouldnt have survived the prison and come out all sane if Govind and Vidya had not forgiven him . Letting Omi be a part of their life , their son's life meant so much to him .

And that is why I was so impressed, Lunza...I didn't see his death coming...I hadn't read the book and wasn't aware of any spoilers in that sense...till the very end I was quite convinced that Ali's father was going to die and Ishaan would end up bringing up Ali or something...but the moment Ishaan gets shot, you literally have a "Oh shit!" I didn't see that coming moment...and that is why his death has such an impact...For he was the one with the purest motivations in all this, he just simply wanted to protect an innocent child and his family...and he is accidentally shot by his own best friend in the process...it's a very subtle but powerful way of sending out a message about the overall tragedy of the riots...ultimately innocence is what perishes as the devil takes over man and drives him to such extremes...otherwise who can imagine...a soul like Omi...who was literally a simpleton and an idiot in some ways...could do this...that too when he was in a rage wanting to avenge his family's death...but the shock of Ishaan's death drives home the point that ultimately EVERYONE loses when we let hatred and violence take over.

Somewhere I did think maybe there will be one last convo b/w the friends before his death but the very SUDDENNESS of his death makes it so real...the shock, the EMPTINESS of that loss hits you HARD...and I think that is the point they were trying to make.

Oh yeah that short scene of Vidya crying in her father's lap :((...it was the little snippets that subtly yet powerfully made the needed point...even in other moments like Ishaan supposedly just lazing around with the remote on his chest all day in front of the TV...there was always something simmering under the surface.

I'm not sure what Govi-Vidya thought after that...they never dwelt on it...but yes, that entire set of circumstances...Ish finding out in that moment, him giving the phone to Ali's father...guess it was meant to be...no one person can be to blame for it...

I think Amit was superb in all those bits as he comes out of prison or finally meets little Ishaan and yes his last scene with Vidya in the stadium...their forgiveness indeed managed to make him survive or he wouldn't have been able to survive Ishaan's death...I think that is what makes me so sad for his character...he literally LIVED for Ishaan...uske aage peechhe ghoomta tha, hung on to his every word...it used to be him and Ish against Govi even in arguments...and he lost THAT very friend, brother killed at his own hands...your heart goes out to him.

I liked other subtle things they showed like Omi's father the head priest of the temple refusing to partake in any of the fanatic communal political stuff despite his brother in law constantly badgering him...and such a gentle soul Omi's father was too...I really do love that final scene when he hugs Omi before getting on the train...there is something really poignant about it that touches my heart...him not approving of what his son has gotten into but still gives him that love and support in that moment which neither of know will be their final one together...aww :((
