'Con' movies are always fun and what makes 'Special Chabbis' more interesting is the fact that it is based on real life incidents. Neeraj Pandey completely surprised the audiences with last release 'A Wednesday' and now he has taken the onus of narrating the biggest con incidents that have taken place in India. The movie is set up in the 80's and starts with Republic Day parade and on the same day a CBI raid is being planned on the house of a Delhi minister. Akshay Kumar plays Ajay Singh the leader of a con team that consists of Anupam Kher, Rajesh Sharma and Kishore Kadam, they dress up like CBI team and are pros in conducting raids. Neeraj really makes the raids very interesting as you would be surprised to see the way cash is stashed in roofs, walls and cars.

Jimmy Shergill plays a cop in the movie called Ranvir Singh and giving him company is lady constable Divya Dutta. Special 26 is a very slick thriller and the background score by Sanjoy Chowdhury makes the movie more fun to watch. Manoj Bajyapee plays a CBI officer Waseem Khan in the movie the 'real' one who is on a mission to catch the fake CBI men and put them behind bars. The romantic track between Akshay and Kajal does not add value to the movie; in fact Neeraj could have easily done away without it. M. M. Kreem and Himmesh Reshammiya's songs also are average and nothing that the audiences will be humming as they walk out of the theatre. Editor Shree Naryan Singh does a very good job as at no point the movie looks like a drag. The cinematography is wonderfully done by Late Bobby Singh.

Neeraj Pandey has managed to infuse some humor in the movie especially when they conduct 'CBI Special recruitment' and really silly candidates come in to be interviewed. After doing commercial movies like 'Rowdy Rathore' and 'Khiladi 786' it is a real treat watching Akshay Kumar in a new avatar. Playing con men is tricky and Akshay manages to do it really well and is in complete control of his performance.

Neeraj Pandey manages to extract a great performance from Anupam Kher once again, the actor is amazing as PK Sharma. Manoj Bajpayee is outstanding in the movie, he reminded me of Tom Hanks in 'Catch me if you can' as he too is on a mission to catch a notorious con man. Manoj is smart, witty and he really shines in the last scene when he discovers the truth. Jimmy Shergill makes an impact as he has a very interesting role in the movie. Divya Dutta has just one dialogue which she says over and over again, but she manages to make audiences laugh whenever she says it.

Making a thriller is very challenging and Neeraj Pandey has done a splendid job, as there is no way you can guess what's going to happen next, he manages to mislead the audiences very smartly. Neeraj has managed to narrate real life incidents in the movie in a very interesting way, he also extracts beautiful performances. Neeraj keeps you guessing about the mystery behind the title 'Special 26', he manages to recreate the 80's brilliantly as he pays attention to every minute detail. Special 26 is for sure going to be loved by audiences as it is a perfect entertainer and the thriller will win lots of accolades and will go to become one of the best movies of 2013.
