Yesteryear Actresses Were So Graceful!

I was just randomly watching some old songs on TV and I realized that all these older actresses were so so GRACEFUL! ❤️

This is one of my new-found favorite songs. Love the song, love both Mausmi and Amitabh in it, there is so much innocence in the song. No actress can do a rain song today without coming off as vulgar. 🤓😆

And oh, I loved the picturization of Mumbai in it.

The old time actresses shows skins as well. I know Muntaz and Zeenat wear bikinis in films before.

I think the old cinema is getting too much romanticized. It was no better than today. It's just that you look at it differently now because years have gone. And you are just picking those videos where the women are portrayed gracefully. I can find many videos in contrast to those where women during that time wasn't shown gracefully. So it's not like all yesteryear actresses were so graceful.

"they represented the true Indian beauty" I don't get this line. If your talking about body then I can understand what you mean. But if your talking about face then I totally disagree. If you walk in India then you won't see girls look like these actresses so this "represented the true indian beauty" is not right. Film actresses are not how the average indian girls looks like.

2ndly skin show is nothing new in bollywood. Zeenat Aman has done the biggest amount of skin show, she almost went nude and that too many decades ago. 2ndly Mumtaz was very bold too and if you look at background dancers in parveen babi etc. songs then you will see that those girls are completely wearing kinky sex clothes, the kind of clothes which playboy girls wear.

Even in the 90s there were graceful heroines.

I agree with both opinions. Yes, actresses had a grace and beauty back then, and now it's different. But it's not different just because how they dress now. They are also different now because there is no more MYSTERY to an actress. Everything is everywhere all the time. News, 24 hour updates, social media. We can't get a break from them and our lives are oversaturated with their presence. Back then, there was an aura to them simply because they were far away, and it was not possible to get close. Nowadays we have cross marketing and they are selling everything from toothpaste to vaginal tightening gels. So the difference according to me is not the change in looks or styles, because styles are changing all the time quite naturally, but the difference is in the hyper advertising and corporate marketing campaigns of today.

I agree with everything you said. However regarding actresses being stick thin or size zeros today compared to the actresses of yesteryear - this is largely dictated by the mindset of todays society. This forum is a perfect example of that, where people praise the figures of actresses like Deepika, Priyanka endlessly, and criticise the figures of actresses like Kareena, Sonakshi often saying they should work hard for figures like DP, PC.

DP, PC are both beautiful, and have really nice figures, but the same is true of Kareena and Sonakshi. Yet KK and SS are called fat, overweight, or unfit. Their figures are pretty much just like those of Hema, Rakhee, Leena Chandavarkar, Sridevi in their prime. These women were considered incredible beauties, Hema was even termed the dream girl.
