I do want her back.. but lets be honest she gotta lose that weight first.

If she's back I don't want her to do Dhoom kind of films..not because of her age or marriage status..those kind of films never suited her.

I want her to do romantic films, play characters where's she's subtle ect those roles suite her.

It is up to Aishwarya if she wants to come back. But it doesn't seems she is making a effort. She is struggeling with her weight. And hearing Abhishek saying thank you Aishwarya in every award show for taking care of the baby lol so I can work 😆 doesn't seems Aishwarya is coming back. It is sad because Aishwarya really had a career. She still had a couple of years at the top! But it seems like Aishwarya is with her baby the whole day. And making some ads in between.
I really hope Aishwarya does come back soon, mothers can work too, and doesn't wait for years.

I don't see any reason why a big deal is made of her comeback. Aishwarya was only popular as a beauty and later an internationally popular face. She wasn't popular or much of a crowd puller as an actress. I don't even think anyone remembers her films except HDDCS or Devdas or perhaps Dhoom 2 (her memorable films can be counted on fingertips).

She did several films in 2010 and all of them flopped except Robot.

She mostly did few films, fewer were hits, still fewer acclaimed. So question of audience wanting her comeback seems redundant considering audience never really saw or got much from her onscreen when she was working.

She never had the adoration of audience that was enjoyed by Sridevi, Hema Malini, Kajol, Madhuri.

As a beauty she's still around in those ad campaigns which she keeps doing intermittently.

Even if she comes back, I doubt how successful she might be considering her appeal lies solely in her looks and her looks aren't as luminous as they used to be.

She'll continue as a diva or an ageing beauty like Hema Malini but I doubt her getting any success as an actress. She's no Kajol or Sridevi. Sorry.

Aishwarya is in a category of her own. The people you have named have been great actresses and icons, But Ash is no less. Aishwarya is not only a great actress she is probably the only female celebrity from Bollywood. There is a difference of being an actress and being a celebrity. Truth of the matter is, people still want Aishwarya around and I dont know what world your living in, but Aishwarya is right up there with the names you have mentioned.
Do not forget that not only was Aishwarya ranked as one of the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, she was also on that cover and also the first female to get her statute at Madame Tussauds.
Yes, I agree, maybe she is not known for her "acting". But her star-power is unexplainable, and beyond some of the people you have mentioned.
She might not be a good as Sri, Mads, Kajol or Hema in terms of acting. But her celebrity power and fan following is VERY strong. Acting is not enough. Remember when people loved Rani and she was number-1 and Ash was trashed because of her? Today Rani has to beg her friends like Aamir to get a small role in Talash, where as Ash sits home and takes care of baby, and has so many offers but can afford not to care. She doesnt have to lobby for roles.
For god sakes, she's married, has a baby and is out of shape and people STILL want to see here. That should say enough

@Shaitan-Haiwan

When have I doubted her achievements? I precisely said what you said about Aishwarya being a popular face and celebrity. But all I said was that she never really had any pull as an actress.

As a celeb she's always around even now in form of ads and some appearances. She's a beauty, achiever as a celeb. But never the one to enjoy emotional connect or adoration with audiences and paying public as MD or Sridevi or Kajol.

If her movies mattered then she wouldn't have had so many flops. If someone like Kajol gives up movies after K3G stories of comebacks are understood. How does comeback matter if a person is popular mainly as a personality/beauty and her fame doesn't depend on movies? As a face and a celeb audience has enough of her till date thanks to media. Where'd she go?

Oh Ok I understand what you are saying.
It amazes me as well to see her flop record. Even though most of her movies are flops they are still widely seen and appreciated. Never really got that.
But I do think she has given some awesome performances like Chokar Bali, Raincoat, Guzarish...I would love for her to continue working in that kind of cinema. Really want her to explore her dark side as well. Theres so much she has not done.

I don't think her flops get widely seen or appreciated. Pardon me, but I've never seen films like Action Replay or Hum Kisise Kam Nahi or Dil Ka Rishta get appreciation or talked about. Chokher Bali - many haven't seen it. Raincoat and Guzarish aren't exactly everyone's cup of tea. And artsy/performance oriented films like those are what every actress had managed in her career, like Heaven On Earth for Preity, Black for Rani, Chameli for Kareena, Daman and Satta for Raveena Tandon.

I do not feel Aishwarya has anything substantial or unique to offer in her filmography.

Aishwarya has probably only left void in terms of a scintillating beauty. The void left by her isn't quite like the void left by a Madhuri or Hema Malini or Sridevi - whose appeal depended on films and who themselves also added a lot to their films (apart from just beauty or aura).

I am sorry to say but I don't find her of any significance as an actress and never got the curiosity to see her explore any other side to herself as an actress.

Topics like these make me wonder if we get too emotional or partial to past. In 90s people would lament loss of a Madhuri/Kajol to girls like Rani/Preity or beauties like Aishwarya/Sushmita. Aishwarya was considered an icon, beauty, achiever all her life but never an actress really. Now the talks of her comeback or her leaving a void sound odd.

It shows how we're getting worse in case of female actors. Anybody would pine for an Aishwarya and rate her talent higher seeing a Katrina Kaif now! I softened my stand on Preity Zinta after trying to tolerate Anushka Sharma's so called bubbly acts. 😆

As a celeb, a beauty and icon, Aishwarya will always be in public eye just as Hema Malini continues to be there even today (though all her films and TV shows flop except Baghban!) or there's Rekha who's forever in news even if she's not doing anything at all.

Sorry for butting in, Madhuri's appeal didn't lie in her films. It lied in her item songs that she churned out year after year in her times. You can count her 'great performances/films' on your finger tips. Hema Malini and Sridevi weren't exactly considered great actresses either (strictly in terms of acting), they were criticized for their dialogue delivery and lack of speech skills.

Aishwarya isn't someone I would consider the greatest actress of all times, but she is certainly a good actress who has proved her versatility as an actress. Sure, she has seen failures, but didn't the actresses you listed see them? Sure they did!

It's just that Aishwarya's beauty and her international achievements overshadowed her performances, just like Madhuri's dance overshadows her acting. Just because an actress has a striking side to her which takes audience's mind away from her as as an actress doesn't mean she is a bad actress!

My opinion is that Aishwarya is one of a kind, she has seen success post marriage and motherhood like no actress in any previous generations. Ash has done really really few movies which are strictly commercial in nature, most of her work has been in experimental, offbeat, artsy cinema, even though she had unquestionable star power as a superstar and she could any day have taken the easy route that actresses of today are taking. Like Katrina or Kareena. Playing sidekicks to big heroes year after year in their big commercial films is a sureshot way to boxoffice success, but Ash never chose that path. She has always remained versatile in her choice. She has done every genre in Bollywood (except horror may be), every kind of role, even almost every language. Aishwarya did get her due as a superstar, but she is a very underrated actress.
