Your opinion really. But Hema Malini, Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi were star-actresses, female superstars in true sense who could overshadow the heroes also in their films and also give hits with newcomers or less successful actors. They weren't as great actresses as say, a Nutan or Nargis but they were a balance of acting, style, dance, beauty, mannerisms and iconic appeal. Even a Juhi Chawla's less successful commercial films enjoy good viewership on TV and recall value.

Sridevi and Madhuri used to be called female Amitabh Bachchan. Not for nothing! Such comparison to crowd-pulling power of a male superstar was never done for Aishwarya.

Conduct any poll of best/most loved female stars. Aishwarya will be there but rank behind others.

Good performances, hits and memorable songs/scenes of even Aishwarya can be counted on just fingertips. Her filmography is nothing like that of other starnis.

The likes of Hema Malini, Sridevi, MD worked with and gave hits with actors across different generations. That's what you call a superstar IMHO.

Aishwarya for me is only an icon, enigma, beauty, achiever. Not an all-rounder female superstar whose work defined an era.

It's easy to reduce MD to a dancer/songs star. But who's given an ATBB riding on her own shoulder? Sridevi ruled in 3 different industries (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu) and worked with every major superstar/newcomer.

Aishwarya has no ATBB and even her hits can be counted on fingertips. That shows what pull she had among crowd in general.

A superstarni is one who's been able to overshadow everyone else in that era for most part. That happened with Hema Malini, Sridevi and MD. But not Aishwarya. There was always either a Kajol or a Rani or a Preity or an Urmila or a Kareena or Vidya as toast of film goers. From 2007, she even got toppled in some beauty/sex appeal polls by likes of Katrina and Deepika in India (though she's continued to win those in international media). She's not a people's superstar but more of a celebrity/icon/beauty who's forever in spotlight for being who she is. Much like Rekha (whose scale of success among crowds was lower than Hema's).

What success has she seen after marriage except for a Guru or Robot? In past even Nutan had given hits and acclaimed performances AFTER marriage AND her baby.

Winning beauty/celeb polls is definition of incredible success then that's what she has in ample measure - maybe more than enough to call her all time biggest female star ever - if that's the criteria!

Actresses like MD or Sridevi saw failures but their success ratio with the crowds is FAR greater than that of Aishwarya's. Hema Malini is still the biggest female box office draw ever (her record of hits is unrivalled). I don't see such a success record in Ash Rai's kitty.

Finally sorry but I don't consider Dil Ka Rishta, Action Replay, Hum Kisise Kum Nahi, Albela, Aa ab laut chalen, Robot, Khakee, Kyun Ho gaya na, Kuch Na Kaho or stuff as risky or offbeat. A Provoked, Raincoat, Guzaarish are risky but not other projects!

Don't care! But she is a global icon so a period movie with her in lead could become the next big thing for international audience

👏 I agree from word to word.

To the topic No I dont care, I have always found Aishwariya Rai to be overrated and a boring actress to watch.
