BOI is right. Dabbang 2 is a huge success as a movie alone, but as a franchise, it has tainted the Dabbang series. The movie was so crappy. It should have been hovering around what ETT but it's nearly 37 crores behind ETT itself.

Looking at BH "most awaited movies," poll, I can understand why no Salman movie is in the top-5. As a huge Salman fan, I wasn't interested in watching Dabbang 2. It seemed to be a lame, inferior, and watered-down version of Dabbang from the promos itself.

Look at Salman's track record since Wanted. Wanted did amazingly well at the BO, but it was also very much liked by everybody. That helped Salman build a neat image. Then, he did LD, which flopped but Salman's performance was appreciated and this is where Salman started gatheting momentum. With the release of Veer, although it didn't work at the BO--Salman developed a goodwill amongst multiplex audiences.

THEN Dabbang happened. All of a sudden, Salman was in a role of an eccentric cop, and the promos of Dabbang, Salman's presence, and the dialogues of Dabbang became a rage instantly.

After Dabbang, Salman didn't do another action movie, but rather a Comedy in Ready. Ready had tremendous WOM--just like Dabbang--and was the most liked movie of 2011 amongst the audiences.

In Bodyguard, the equation again changed. This time the movie was a Romantic Action Drama, with romance being the key. They only used Salman's macho image, but the crux of the movie was Salman and Kareena's love story.

After BG, Salman came up with another movie--a Romantic Thriller--and his first movie with YRF. Not only was it different to what Salman was doing, it was also lavish and handled by a really talented director. ETT worked wonders and became the second-highest grossing movie ever.

Now...

Until this point, Salman had been varying very well--Wanted (Action), LD (Musical), Veer (Historic), Dabbang (Action Drama), Ready (Comedy), Bodyguard (Romantic Drama/Action), and Ek Tha Tiger (Romantic Thriller).

Dabbang 2 came and everybody expected it to do the same as ETT. It was a non-holiday release, so it couldn't do as well but it still ended up being the biggest non-holiday Hit of all time. It's all fine BUT the movie was slamed and it didn't share a positive WOM as Salman's previous movies had done, especially ETT, Ready, Dabbang, and Wanted. So, as such, the movie failed to take the Dabbang franchise forward.

It's worth noting that--Salman's next projects aren't anything exciting because it has left people thinking that it's going to be the same. Nobody knows much about Sohail's next, while Kick is that regular masala remake and people already know what to expect.

That is why I believe that Salman should really do a varied movie and Radhey is the right one. If he can do a social drama--as it goes well with his Being Human image--Salman will create a goodwill brand and it will only enhance his status. These masala movies won't work forever, ya know.

If Salman can get the likes of Nasseruddin Shah, Tabu, and even Nana Patekar together in Radhey, along with a mature actress opposite him, it's going to be a spectacular ace for him. He already has Sooraj's next and if Radhey leaves the masala factor behind, I think Salman will catapult to another level altogether.

For masala elements, there's already Kick and he's also doing the sequel to No Entry, so I really hope Radhey isn't the bogus movie that Dabbang 2 was.

Salman Khan is 1 - 10 at the BO today, but most of his movie run on his strength at the BO. It's really time, Salman did something new--at least for once.

You're listening too much to the Mumbai-Delhi based critics than the nation actually.

Ready had the best WOM of all movies in 2011 and that's why it's still the third biggest non-holiday Hit.

Dabbang had FANTASTIC WOM. Dabbang's release was such that it was impossible to overtake the total nett of 3I but it fell only 10 - 12 crores short in terms of distributor share.

ETT is the record movie--being the FIRST movie to surpass the 100 crore dist. share and 8 crores clear ahead of 3I with 107 crores. ETT had decent WOM.

Wanted couldn't do 100 crores because it didn't open with a bang. It had a good opening. It picked up over the weekend.

You should really study BO first before writing with a blind eye.

As for the last part, well, you just need to have the vision. Salman has been varying until now. Only Dabbang 2 is a repetition. When Salman did Wanted, he hadn't done an action movie in over five years. Believe it or not, Salman has usually varied it and has done what works for him. But if he continues doing movies like Kick, it's going to get stale one day.

The most-anticipated movie of 2011 was Bodyguard; of 2012 was Talaash AND Ek Tha Tiger. 2013--there are bigger projects ahead of Salman's. This is why Salman should take a U turn for one movie (apart from Sooraj's next). While everybody is doing the commercial genre, if Salman can pop out a socialistic movie, it's going to work like a magic wand in varying Salman Khan and his movies.
