Every accused is entitled to a fair trial, no matter how heinous the crime. Besides, the lawyer didn't create this loophole; it's already there in the system and he's making use of it to do his job. It's the court that should take a firm stand on this and set a good precedent.

Yeah I get that and I knew this right of fair trial would come up. I still can't understand why a person would voluntarily come to advocate for them though. Honestly at first I thought this case was going to make a difference, right now I doesn't seem like it. Everything is getting in the way :( Let's hope the courts still do what's necessary!

Honestly the law relating to juvenile delinquents needs a total revamp..a few months back, a teacher was murdered by one of her students and merely because the accused was a juvenile, he escaped from severe punishment..if a person is mature enough to freaking rape a girl or plot the murder of his own teacher, on what basis do u consider him a juvenile? isn't it contradictory to the whole concept of juveniles?😕

oh yeah sure...

the poor boys r just 17...they just innocently raped a girl and killed her in the most brutal way possible...just some childish teenage ignorance...we can all overlook that right?

WHY is there so much of thought put into if they should be punished severely or not...did people not read wht they did to tht girl?? and the consequences faced by her family and by the women in the rest of the nation? i dunt f**king care if they are 6 months younger to the legal adult age...they reached sexual maturity and they deserve to be treated like adults. so you're telling me that 3 years from now, 2 of the accused can walk freely to repeat the same horrendous acts they committed? 😡 😡 The severity of crimes should up the antics to be tried as an adult. I know of many cases in North America where even 14 year olds were tried as adults. The so called juvenile inflicted the most disgusting inhumane pain on an innocent girl. Inserting a rod in her and beating her unconsious. If he gets away with 3 years, that will be the greatest injustice. In theory, a mob can hire many 17 year olds (even those weeks shy of the magical number 18) to do all their dirty work (ie. murder, kidnap, etc) and have them come out 3 years later..

Why minors? Lets declare all 6 as babies and let them all off. Afterall it was the girl's fault to be out at 8pm in the night isnt it? And she got the punishment she deserved.
