Even as Sajid Nadiadwala gears up for his directorial debut Kick, there appears to be a toss-up between Ileana D'Cruz and Deepika Padukone for the lead actress' part.
Apparently, Sajid had suggested to Salman that Ileana would fit the bill for the Hindi remake of Kick, which goes on floors on June 1, 2013. Especially since she was the one who starred opposite Telugu star Ravi Teja in the original film.
However, Salman is keen on Deepika as his leading lady. One of the reasons, according to a source, is: "Unlike Ileana, whose PR strategy in Mumbai is nil and who hasn't even bothered to meet Salman, Deepika is very high on visibility,whichiswhatcountsatthe end of the day."
Besides, Deepika has repeatedly been heard telling everyone how wonderful it would be to work with Salman and what a great pair they would make. "It is likely Salman will get his way with Nadiadwala. This too is like a home production for Salman. In any case, home producton or not, Salman gets to have the final say on who would be his co-star," said the source.
The other reason why Kick may finally land in Deepika's lap is that the lead actress is required to perform some heavy-duty stunts and given Deepika's athletic background,she seems fitter for the role. "Sajid wants a heroine who can perform martial arts and so on. Deepika is perfect for the part. Ileana was the first choice but she is now one of the two main contenders for the part," said the source.
