making someone a ghost, how is that a new thing in BC? 😕 I'd rather term Kahaani as something which was strong on script and that last thrill made everyone go, "WOAH! Where did that come from!?" I'm not comparing but that last moment, when the suspense came out made the movie stand apart in which Talaash, IMHO, failed. Masala movies ki baat ayi kahan se? 😕

'Talaash' Drastically Drops Over Week One, Bleak Future
MUMBAI: It's been an extremely dismal week for Bollywood's latest supernatural thriller 'Talaash'. Starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, the film directed by Reema Kagti released on 30 November.

While the first day business (Rs 128 million / Rs 12.8 crore net approximately) and the opening weekend collections were from decent to average; Monday onwards – when the weekdays began, the collections for 'Talaash' completely fizzled out.

As reported by businessofcinema.com, the four day total of the film had touched about Rs 505 million (Rs 50.5 crore net), inclusive of Monday.

Losing out business on a daily basis, here's how the week looked for 'Talaash': On Tuesday, the film made Rs 55 million (Rs Rs 5.5 crores) net, By Wednesday the numbers dropped to Rs 45 million (Rs 4.5 crores) net

Thursday figures were Rs 35 million (Rs 3.5 crores net) and Friday was an extremely dismal Rs 20 million (Rs 2 crores) net.

For an Aamir Khan starrer, the actor who smashed box-office records with his '3 idiots' in 2009, a first week total achievement of only Rs 660 million (Rs 66 crore net) is quite disappointing.

At this rate, the second week of the film looks very bleak.

The other two Khans of the reigning triumvirate have still delivered major blockbusters this year. As reported earlier, box office king Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' had made a cool Rs 1 Billion (Rs 100 crore) by its fifth day.

Even Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' (which was disadvantaged by two hurdles – tremendous competition from another big release, i.e. Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar', and weekend state-wide bandh in the biggest business circuit – Maharashtra on account of the death of Bal Thackeray), still managed to cross the Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crore) mark at the domestic box office on its 10th day.

I have nothing against Talaash and the fact that it is a supernatural thriller, was known after the movie released. My opinion regarding the movie is strictly personal because within me, the hype of the movie was at another sky! With every promo etc the only thing in my mind was, "Woah! Just what is the mystery?!" And the tagline, "The answers lie within..." it only made me feel that we'd have to follow all the subtle hints in the movie to think what the mystery is. Kinda like how Hercule Poirot novels of Agatha Christie are. I'm a big mystery/thriller fan, and the pre-release Talaash hype only pointed that it was going to be a mystery of a lifetime! But it ended up being a ghost movie 😕 My disappointment with the movie is strictly personal...I feel like I was cheated Race had better thrills than this...at least that movie got me going, "WHAT THE EFF?! So didn't see that coming!!" Talaash had a ghost...like seriously, a ghost 😳

Talaash Grosses 75 Crore In Ten Days

Saturday 9th December 2012 11.30 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Talaash has grossed 75 crore nett approx ten days as it grossed around 10.50 crore nett in its second weekend. The film had a good jump of 60-65% on Saturday.

The film has dropped in most markets but cities with high concentration of premium multiplexes like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata and Bangalore are doing pretty well. These areas all have high ticket rates so therefore the film has managed fair collections in second weekend despite limited appreciation.

The film had heavy drops in places like CPCI and Rajasthan where Khiladi 786 has done its best business. There is no release next week and if the premium multiplexes can give good performance next weekend, Talaash can go towards 90 crore nett and a share of around 45 crore.

45 crore share is good...👏. I hope it does not include Overseas collection..

It will encourage Aamir to do different movies all the time. He is planning to direct another movie if he gets time. That movie is about 13-yr old boy and a girl IIRC.

Aamir Khan will be one rich person after this movie if he is taking 80% profits...

Nope. Mahabharata is a dream project for aamir but he is talking about 20 yrs time...😊

    Aamir Khan quote:

"I have a story that I have chosen and hope to direct. But right now I have responsibility as an actor, plus I have (TV show) Satyamev Jayate season 2," Aamir told PTI.

"The script is written by someone else. I have told the writer it (direction) will take time. I don't know when I would direct next. As I have Peekay, Dhoom 3 and Satyameva Jayaate 2 in hand. I might produce it as well," he added."

The movie is based on 13 year old boy & his 10 year old sister.
