Just throwing "young" at any and everything because it's "young" is butt-stupid!
Look, kids are not the ONLY inhabitants of this earth and other people want to see movies that reflect themSELVES too.
What they NEEDED to do----no, let's be straight here---what Bollywood STILL needs to do is to move beyond it's "Cinema for the Shallow" designation and start wrting some decent scripts that don't just reiterate the same old regressive BS!
A script needed to be written for SRK that suited that particular actor's nature, age and scope.
Hell, think of it this way. If any of you have seen The Devil Wears Prada can you imagine what a mega-fail that film would have been if the casting directors had indiscriminately shoved Meryl Streep into Anne Hathaway's role simply because Anne's role was that of the titular "lead" but Meryl is the more famous actor?
No matter how good Meryl is, if the role she'd shoved into is really meant for someone else----or even for herself 20 years ago---there's no way she could really...REALLY...make it work.
It's ridiculous to blame the actors and piss their careers down the drain when the fault is that no one with an ounce of imagination or talent in how to write for and use myriad people seems to exist in that industry.
Seriously...Every woman must be a half white beauty pageant winner, who even in a film about climbing Everest must wear skimpy clothes to make the men and the tween (or just tween minded) girls think..."Oooh she's so hot!"
And every guy has to be some fake ass, wannabe "cool" buffed out clown. (at least the guys get some leeway in that they don't have to all look like they came out of the exact same cookie press)
I can't believe that a production house as famous and major as Yash Raj would greenlight a crap script like the one for JTHJ---double amnesia...double AMNESIA are you kidding me??? That crap was out of date when DW Griffith was making movies!!!!
But then it says so much about what the public is willing to settle for when I think that no here but me seems to have been seriously TURNED OFF by that UGLY, UGLY prayer that child Meera actually made to god in the first few minutes of JTHJ---remember?---the one where she totally insulted Indian men and claimed to not want someone "dark" (you know, like the men who were expected to PAY good money for this crapfest...like the directors SONS *cough-cough*) but asked god for a gora.
Right there the scriptwriters could have had the girl's dad---who, by the way raised the little racist snot after wifey bailed, though obviously not-too-well---drop dead. The rest of the film could have been about her trying to denounce her feeling for Samar because how could she fall for a man like SRK after she'd made a wicked prayer like that which killed her own father?
At least it would be a REAL reason that a girl raised in London in this day and age might offer for her reasoning, and it might take the movie out of the realm of sheer "let's look at pretty people and insult the rest whom we don't consider pretty" pettiness.
And since they tend to make SRK's films with a nod to the sensibilities to the overseas audience they really should be aware that we don't much like such cruel and self-destructive thinking.
SRK's too old for that...hell Kat's too old for that and not to put too fine a point on it SELENA GOMEZ is probably too old for it!
But if that's all that's offered you, unless you write and produce your own films THAT'S the kind of emptiness-reiterating garbage you'll end up doing.
And we all have seen that SRK isn't exactly the best at selecting his own material.
So no it's not Ranbir you need, it's WRITERS with imagination and talent.
