Yes I agree yash chopra should have taken other actors but that doesn't mean his choice of taking srk was bad.srk has done numerous roles whether it's action in Don or comedy in Baadshah or serious role like CDI or swades.U r talking as if srk has done only romantic roles in his career.He has done negative roles too and people have loved him in every role.
Srk can do movies like barfii.in fact he could have done it better than ranbir. Ranbir is the guy who hasn't done anything apart from romance till now.Barfii too can be called a love story.

I just finished watching Barfi, so I do agree this guy is the most talented boy in this industry,,,,,

But would he be justified SRK's role in this role?????

The script of JTHJ was weak, I think Yash ji overlooked those weaknesses because he knew that Srk would pull the film off with his charisma and it would still do well.

So, no, I don't think anyone other than Srk could have made the film work.

I do agree with you that some parts felt too repetitive. The first scenes of the movie, and the dialogue of it made me feel like I was watching KANK at first. (The dialogues where Srk gets really close to Kat and speaks were too similar to KANK< just replace Kat with Rani, same thing). Srk does have a certain way of doing romantic roles so it's definitely all too familiar on screen.

However, the latter parts where he was a serious, quiet, withdraw man was really nice and new for Srk. So I did enjoy that.

Anuskha's look was def worst part of the film. SO what if she's a tomboy, that doesn't mean she has to look like a boy...she just has to act like one. They gave terribly ugly, oversized shirt and nonexistent shorts and no makeup...she got so ripped off. She's in a yash ji film looking like a rat. Kat got lucky as usual and got to wear a white saree

I'm sure Srk is a good kisser, I just think he didn't want to show it on screen. It was his first on-screen kiss after all, he's bound to be a little shy... Katrina was actually less shy... wonder what made both of them decide that it's ok to kiss on screen for this movie... weren't both srk and kat against onscreen kisses?

Ranbir has a long way to go! I loved him in Barfi but no one other than Shah Rukh could have pulled off the role of Samar in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. His experience, intensity and most of all the way he romances was needed for the story.

& Shah Rukh and Katrina's chemistry was/is actually damn good! They look perfect together & I'm dying to watch the movie again just for their chemistry! & their kiss, it was clear that SRK didnt want to kiss but damn! something about them two, when they kissed it gave me goosbumps. 😳 --I always wanted to see SRK kiss cuz i love his lips☺️ 😳😆

the film got criticized for the story which i thought was good but since it was Mr. Yash Chopra we had extreme expectations. But it was good enough to make you remind of your love in your life, make you fall in love and want to be in love & if Shah Rukh wasn't the main lead, I honestly couldn't have felt that way.

Ranbir is good in his own way but there can't be another King Khan.
