Ya there were some minor flaws but it was plausible. But then which movie is foolproof. If we sit and analyse a so-called great film we'll find some or the other blunder. Even the epic romantic movie "Titanic" had some flaws.

As per Katrina being over religious in the film, what is so surprising in it? I have seen many people who are like that(my mom and my best friend being the one). The main idea of the film was that "Instead of having fear of god one should have faith in love".

Two Problems apart from honest criticism.

SRK & Katrina - two most hated superstars. 60% trashing of the film started from these two names only. Seriously.

I mean the reason for Meera and Samar being away from each other shouldve been something more than that for the audience to feel somethign for them. We understood the reason why Veer and Zara couldnt be one but in this case that reason wasnt valid enough. Dont get me wrong i liked the because of SRK only but the script was not there.

Then, its a difference of POV, Honey. What can i say except that perhaps we see the film from different windows. I get what you are trying to say. 😃

And LOVED. If they were only hated then there would be no fuss na!😉

That's what I've been saying since Part 1 of this discussion thread. The reason for Samar and Meera' seperation made it hard for me to feel for the characters. I didn't like Meera's logic of how she perceived God as selfish in the sense that she thought he had to take something away from her in order for her to be granted something in return.

But some find her relationship with God offensive. So how can that be termed as simply trashing?
I personally don't believe that a relationship with God can be that simple and drawn out.

and in that case... the whole movie kinda contradicts Katrina's initial belief, but since elaborating that would be a spoiler, I will can it

See...thats why this movie is so polarising...anytime any movie is based on a character's relationship with God...the audience is divided...Faith is abstract...I can not really visualize how u see God and vice versa...in Veer Zara...it was very tangible...so the audience got the concept...the more abstract the concept ...the more difficult it is for the audience to grasp...and thats why we see the backlash...after reading everything ...i know that this movie will make sense to me..

But khoslakadhokla and PuffinHypercity had great input and gave me a different perspective that made me appreciate the movie more.

Its not about perceiving God as selfish. Its about doing your bit for Him in the name of faith. Since God speaks only through His care and protection , our verbal connection with Him is one sided. We try to live His side of the relationship too from our own head. Some feel that since God does so much for them , they need to show gratitude and that is how this Deal thing starts.

Meera chose her promise and commitment to God and safety of Samar. None of it was true but it was her theory and the innocence of her faith. That is why at the back of his head, even Samar found it ridiculous and cruel to him.

Our logics behind closed doors are often strange and no, am not trying to make you feel for Samar and Meera.

yes faith is abstract...

but in my opinion, that is precisely why it should not be used as a means of manipulation, that too to justify a freaking LOVE story

I don't know, I've never understood Bollywood romances that try to portray romance as such a vast deep ocean of an amalgamation of belief and conviction... thats the crappy part of Bwood honestly, its either romance that is too grand to believe, or romance that is so shallow, KIDS can treat it like a swimming pool!

To me, personally, logic can't be given a toss just for the sake of overflowing emotions and what not.

Have you heard of Lalbaugcha Raja? During Ganeshotsav in Mumbai, lakhs of people make "mannat" by standing in the line for hours(sometime it takes days) and offer lakhs of rupees, gold and silver just for their wish to get fulfilled. So what do these people perceive god to be? This is just an example. There are many other example which you will find in many other places.
