   Watching Jab Tak Hai Jaan

   So I've been meaning to watch this movie in forever, but I couldn't get around to it until now. Had to watch it without English subtitles, which means I get the basic gist of everything, but I don't understand every individual word or sentence, so that kind of sucked. But basically, this is what I thought of it all

   • Damn Shahrukh with that stubble in the whole Army getup is hot. I really like that look on him
   • Not so much a fan of the younger London Shahrukh. He just looks too old to believably portray someone in his twenties. It's not something you can fix with hair dye - it's his skin. It just looks'looser. It's something that's going to come with growing old, there's really no way to have made him look any younger
   • But his acting is still gold - he does that sort of role really well, the carefree but sincere joker type. But then, he's been doing it since the 1990s.
   • Challa is now stuck in my head - it's a lovely song
   • Shahrukh's really hamming up his lack of English skills though lol
   • Katrina's character seems quite typical - rich but discontented NRI girl, but it's quite believable, even if it is pretty standard.
   • Story's pretty standard too. Rich girl who hasn't lived, poor guy who lives hand-to-mouth, but in complete freedom. Just like Aladdin - all they're missing is the monkey and the genie.
   • Huh. There's more chemistry than I thought there would be between Shahrukh and Katrina. I had prepared myself for absolutely no chemistry whatsoever, but I was wrong, they do connect a little. Not as much as Shahrukh did with Kajol, or Juhi, or Rani, or Preity, but enough to make the film move along.
   • Ishq Shava - oh my god. I love this song so much, it's my favorite at the moment. It's honestly really really unique sounding, I've never heard anything like it before. I like the picturization too - great dancing by Katrina, and Shahrukh may be 47, but he can still dance like he's 25. When the camera doesn't zoom in on his face, I can believe he's 25. Also, the chemistry between Katrina and Shahrukh really amps up when they're dancing in this song, I think.
   • I like that scene right after Ishq Shava, in the train station when Samar tells Meera he's in love. That was a very well done scene. Just enough drama, but not overdramatic, like some other parts have been
   • Kissing scene was actually kind of sweet, in my opinion. All closed-mouth and tentative. A little awkward, as are most Bollywood kisses, but here that awkwardness translated well, it made the kiss fit in with what's going on, a little hesitant and unsure and stuff.
   • Not a big fan of the white vs. brown dynamic so far though. I didn't like that scene with young Meera talking about how ugly brown guys were or whatever. Didn't seem real, didn't seem funny. It just felt wrong and a little outdated.
   • Heer. Sweet song, but I don't understand most of it
   • Awww look Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor! I love Rishi Kapoor!
   • Saans. Beautiful song. This is honestly one of the nicest soundtracks I've heard in a while. But I don't really like the picturization, it's very typical, but the chemistry between Katrina and Shahrukh just sort of fizzles and dies here, it's not working as well as Ishq Shava did.
   • NOOO SHAHRUKH GOT HIT BY A BUS. I know it's a movie, but I hate seeing Shahrukh get hurt in any form. You don't know how difficult this has made life for me - I could barely watch the end of Kal Ho Naa Ho
   • Whoa. I'm pleasantly surprised by Katrina's performance in that scene, when she's praying for Samar's life. I believe it.
   • Meera's stupid bargaining habit is the only thing driving this love story. Otherwise, it would be the usual completely typical and overdone rich-girl-poor-guy story
   • Ooh back in India. And look, hot stubble Shahrukh's back!!
   • I really really love Anushka Sharma more with every movie I see of her. She's always given the same sort of character, but she plays it well, and why ruin a good thing? But even then, I think she manages to make each character just a shade different. Like here, Akira's all bubbly and happy and straightforward and awesome, but she's quite different from Shruti from Band Baaja Baaraat. Because Shruti's the completely-committed-to-business kind of girl, and you can tell Akira's always up for some fun or adventure.
   • I like Akira way more than I liked Meera. Meera's a very typical, overdone character, but Akira feels more modern.
   • Ahh Samar singing Challa on the rocks in Kashmir <3 Have I mentioned how in love I am with this older, mature Shahrukh look?
   • The vibe between Akira and Samar is well done. Akira has a very interesting combination of irreverence and hero worship for Samar. Loved the scene where she's filming him diffusing the bomb, and she asks him to make her his girlfriend. I like how their relationship develops, and how it's just poised on the edge of might-have-been.
   • Jiya Re. Good song, but feels a little like Jazba from Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, maybe because both of them have Anushka Sharma, and the lyrics are similar. Jiya Re is picturized well though, beautiful Kashmir.
   • Back in London. NOOO NOT AGAIN WHY SHAHRUKH WHYYY. THAT IS THE SECOND TIME IN ONE HOUR. I totally saw this one coming though
   • Ah, amnesia. Familiar Bollywood territory.
   • Yeah, sure, Meera hasn't changed a bit in ten years. They didn't even try to make Katrina look older
   • Don't know why, but I prefer brooding older Shahrukh to happy older Shahrukh. Or happy younger Shahrukh.
   • Reprise of Challa. Is it just me, or were all the songs sort of crowded into the first half? And now the second half is mostly story and background music, except for this Challa part.
   • NOOO DON'T LEAVE AKIRA. I liked you so much more than Meera!
   • The ending scene was pretty good. Although I swear, I was expecting a bomb to suddenly go off and kill them both. But it was a very nice ending. Good use of voiceover.
   • The entire thing was so similar to Veer-Zaara, it's uncanny. Only I think Veer-Zaara had a better core love story.
   • Tribute to Yash Chopra playing. Thank you, Yash Chopra, for so many wonderful movies that I've grown up with.

   Overall, I liked the movie. Is it one of the best Shahrukh's done? I don't think so. But is it worth watching? Yeah. All three of the main actors I think did very well. And the music is fantastic. Overall 6/10
