I would like to rephrase your last sentence. Following 5 pillars of Islam is not important. It is mandatory. The only exception to it is Hajj which can be exempt if a person cannot make a Financial or Physical sacrifice.Celebrating Eid does not make anyone a Muslim. I have many many many Hindu and Christian friends. However celebrating Holie or Christmas does not make me a Hindu or a Christian.Yes we cannot be certain whether he follows Islam or not but judging from his interviews, where he has openly denied adhering to the teachings of Islam,it can be implied that he does not follow.We all make mistakes. No one is perfect. However this cannot be used as a justification to make ammendments in Islamic Provision."No one is perfect and we all make mistakes" does not warrant an individual to bend the state law. How can the phrase be used when the same person bends Islamic Law?
