Kyon? Kyon? Kyon?
We generally have the same taste in actors (remember our crush on Arjun Kapoor a while ago?😆)...toh tumhe yeh dono cutie-pies kyon pasand nahin aaye?
PS: Sana Saeed was funny in the film...but the role did not suit her at all! It required a siren and somehow her face hasn't changed at all...so everytime you saw her in those itsy-bitsy biknis, you were reminded of her cute little self, piggy back riding on SRK's back!
PPS : I think you like the more 'manly' type of heros...going by the pic of Randeep Hooda!😆 Me too in general prefer men to boys...but I really liked these two kids a lot in the film, especially Varun! Or maybe, my expectations were rock-bottom low for the film and the actors (didn't even know who was who till I actually saw the film) that they surprised me pleasantly!

there you go.. Yess.. I'm not the the chocolate boy type.. Varun is cuter but her needs to work, he's not bad as I said for new comers they are both not bad.. but they need work on different different things..

Crazy: yeahh you spelled it right.. yoo they both talk fast.. ab main kya karoon re 😆

I think almost everyone agrees that the script was bad to the point of being non-existent! But everything else seemed to work for the film, in bits and parts! So as a whole, SOTY is a very enjoyable watch...albeit it is one of those films, that have a temporary craze...not a long-lasting impact!

Lolz...Pullo, agree with all your points (except your criticism of our collective aankhon ke taare...Sid and Varun😆)...infact, in an interview, Siddharth mentioned asking Karan what sort of a gareeb ghar ka ladka is Abhimanyu when he is seen wearing designer clothes and riding a swanky bike, to which apparently Karan replied, 'Yeh Dharma Production Ke Gareeb Log hain!'😆
The good part about Karan Johar is that he is not pretentious...he makes films that he believes in and hence they do well, however superficial they might seem to the world.
Whenever he has made films to prove himself different, he has floundered...like trying to explore failed marriages as in KANK and making a statement on racism as in MNIK! Karan doesn't have depth in him as a film-maker, hence I feel that he can never make films like Barfi or Kahaani or even Yash Raj type love stories...but he does have a great sense of style...and he can create a beautiful make-believe world...which too has its own appeal! (I happened to see GOW before watching SOTY...so I desperately needed to look at good-looking, well-dressed people, gorgeous sets, foreign locations, after listening to all of the 'Maa-ki, Behen-ki' stuff from a set of talented but ordinary looking actors!🤔😆)
As long as he sticks to stuff like elaborate punjabi weddings, beautiful clothes, lavish song and dance sequences, incredibly good-looking people and general high-flying unrealistic stuff, he does very well!
On another note, the rumors of Sid and Karan are very putting-off indeed On top of that, throughout the film's promotion, Alia has stuck to Varun like super-glue and Siddharth has been dumped together with Karan!

Well said...
But I don't think there is any truth to Sid and Karan's rumors...
I remember Karan saying this umpteenth time that these three are like his children...
The stuff that he's said in Anupama's Front Row is so emotional...You actually feel that he's a like a parent to them and they are his children...There's no way he would say all that if he's interested in him...
And I didn't feel Alia was closer to Varun...more than Sid...
Yes she did sit with him in a few interviews...but in all the promotions I have seen Sid being very protective about her...also in places whispering stuff in her ears...and Alia too is the same with him (not that I'm intending to mean that they are a couple...but ya...I didn't feel she was any different with him than Varun...)

Anyways...I loved your review of the movie...after watching it...I totally agree with you!

Watched the movie tonight with my friends..and let me just say..I'm in love with Sid..his screen presence is so breathtaking. The way he emotes through his eyesss...ahhh..loveee. ❤️

The promos do not justify this guys screen presence or acting at all

The script was nothing extraordinary..honestly speaking, I think most of us, if not all..knew that even before watching the movie. What was so impressive was how well Varun and Sid did with their performances. There's room for improvement, sure...BUTTT, for two newcomers who were carrying the film on their shoulder..they did brilliant & that to me made me enjoy the movie. I loved the last scene personally the most..with the dialogues about friendship..Varun & Sid are so cute together..I don't remember the last time where I enjoyed chemistry between two male actors as opposed to a male and female actor.

I feel bollywood is finallyyy getting good male actors too. Really hope these two guys do well in the future.

I hope there is no truth in the KJo / Sid Malhotra rumors!

I didn't care about it earlier, but after watching the movie and a couple of interviews, I reallly started liking Sid!😳 He comes across as such a sweetheart...I loved that one line he said in Front Row with Anupama Chopra, when she asked the three of them what advise their parents gave them! Alia and Varun, both belonging to filmy family answered that they got professional advise from their parents on how to handle their careers ect, while Siddharth said his mom told him to keep drinking water!😆 I found it so cute! Awww...such a typical mom thing to say!
Another funny interview was where, Varun told the interviewer that Alia was the most confident amongst the three and that whenever they went for promotions ect, both Sid and Varun would stay in the background and Alia would take control of everything. Since the film was about them, Alia forced them to impress the crowd and told them to take off their shirts and start dancing!😆 I found that so hilarious!😆 Alia telling both Sid and Varun to strip and start dancing to impress the masses!
Frankly, not impressed with Alia Bhatt at all...she is very cute and has a pretty face...but is nowhere near to the boys in terms of talent or screen presence! Or maybe, her role was so under-written, that she got no chance to prove her talent in anywhich way!🤔
As I mentioned before somewhere, both Siddharth and Varun have their own appeal...Sid is more of the strong, silent types, while Varun comes across as the hot-headed, aggressive rebel kinds.
I wish both the guys have a good career ahead! They sure have started on the right footing!😊
