Mumbai, Oct. 5 -- She is just five films old and has already made her mark in Bollywood with her choice of characters. But actor Anushka Sharma says she only does roles that are she relates to.
"I take up roles I've grown up watching - those of Rani (Mukerji) and Kajol. The idea has always been to play relatable characters. People have liked the roles I've done so far because either they have been different or relatable," says the 24-year-old, adding, "So I'm doing roles that I have idolised in the past and hope I'm able to do the same for others (aspiring actors)."
The actor, who now has four plum projects in her kitty - Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, P.K. and Bombay Velvet, is excited about working with four different directors. "And the fact that all four of them have taken me in their films makes me believe that I'm versatile. As an actor, I'm more excited about that," she says.
When asked if winning awards matter to her as an actor, she says, "For me, the only reason winning an award is exciting is because if I get one, my parents feel really happy and get calls from all my relatives across the country. I am very close to my parents and family."
