17 Indian movies vying to make it to the Oscar

'Kahaani', one of the seventeen films shortlisted by Film Federation of India for Oscar

Kahaani, Paan Singh Tomar and Ferrari Ki Sawaari are among 17 films selected by the Film Federation of India for the shortlist from which India's entry to the Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film category will be sent.

Others are Eega (Telugu ), Barfi!, Heroine,Gangs Of Wasseypur, Dirty Picture, Vazhakku Enn 18/9, 7aam Arivu (Tamil), Deool (Marathi) and Aakashathinte Niram (Malayalam).

Haven't got a clue what TDP is doing there. ...and without watching it...Heroine either.

TDP and Heroine wth... Not saying TDP doesn't deserve it, but it was released last year.

I guess Heroine will make it to the next cut if it's able to impress the critics and audience. Out of the movies listed, I have only watched Kahaani, and I approve. 😃

Paan Singh Tomar deserves it fair and square from this list. The others won't make the cut even if they are selected. So might as well send in the best one out of the lot instead of sending blunders along the likes of Eklavya, Paheli etc.

^I know! TDP came last year. Its not qualified and honestly not even good enough to be shortlisted. I have no idea why they have included it. Heroine is a big W*F for me too...as of now. It totally does not come across as an Oscar-worthy film.

The rest of the Bollywood nominations I'm totally fine with.

I've heard they're trying to push Barfi for a BAFTA nomination too.

Out of these though, the film most likely to make it at the Oscars is PST. ...Barfi maybe but I think the
subconscious inspirations will irritate the West. 😆
