Ashok Chopra Molested

This is the story about Dr. Ashok Chopra, father of Miss World - 2000, Ms. Priyanka.
He is accused of child molestation - a charge for which all of us would like to see him hanged by his ……. . That is, if he is guilty. But if he is not, the people who have indulged in this cheap character assassination and maligning of the name of a family which did the country proud should be taken to task, not just to the court. They should be publicly stoned by the people who know them and socially ostracized.
Now let's look at the facts and events as they unfolded because today, with social awareness being so acute and modern methods of communications being available to all, it is difficult for anyone to accept her version.
On 30th November 2000, Ms. Priyanka Chopra is crowned in front of global
audience. The country basks in the warmth of her glory. The little girl, barely 18, is on top of the world. Both the parents are ecstatic. But the happiness is short lived.
On 2nd December, 2000, Mrs. Shivani Saxena, Director of a Company, mother of two children and all of 37 years old, suddenly remembers that she had been molested when she was 12 years old. A good 25 years later !!
The charge turns to rape and the woman keeps changing her story when told that Dr. Ashok Chopra could not have done such a thing in his very first posting, or that they were living in barracks which do not have much privacy and an incident like this could not have gone unnoticed, or that there was no Reading Room in that Army Mess where the other alleged incidents could have taken place. Ashok has written a very detailed letter to me. I will let you all read it in toto. He has also sent me this photograph taken two months after the "molestation" where she is happily singing quawwalis with him.

But one thing is sure, I have known Ashok Chopra for more than 30 years and I can personally vouch for his character and moral integrity in a situation like this. He is a thorough gentleman and is incapable of doing such a heinous thing.
The very fact that demands were made for money and efforts were made to blackmail him into submission speak volumes about the genuineness of the case.
I am actually amazed at this Shivani woman and the Saxena family. Which world are they living in? Do they really think the world at large will believe a word of it or that the case has any merit in any court of law ? This is really stooping low to make a fast buck. This is human filth in all its glory. This is also a classical case of yellow journalism and I personally feel the magazine and the newspapers should have behaved more responsibly.
I am glad Ashok has counter sued them and I will go all out to support him and his family in his hour of need - as I am convinced of his innocence and the absurdity of the case. The latest issue of India Today vindicates him completely with their brilliant piece on page 18 under the heading "Filed" and I quote " A Rs. 25 -lakh damage suit by SHIVANI SAXENA, 37, Dubai-based NRI, against Dr Ashok Chopra.
Saxena alleges that Dr. Chopra molested her 25 years ago but did not pursue the case earlier as she did not know of Dr. Chopra's whereabouts until September 2000.
This shows the maturity on the part of India Today as while putting across the "news item" they have also conveyed to the readers the hollowness of the claim.
The Saxena family is lucky that they are dealing with a gentleman. Anyone else would have killed them with his bare hands. Some issues are worth dying for and family honour is something to be defended in the strongest way. Let us all help Ashok and Madhu Chopra do just that.
Will someone please tell these lowly Saxenas a story? ( I was tempted to use stronger words and call them blood sucking leeches and parasites of society, but thought that these creatures do it to live, why insult them! ) It's the old, weather beaten story of a man asking a woman " Will you sleep with me once for one million dollars?". The woman thought for a moment, startled, but agreed, since it was to be only once and she would have made a million bucks. The man then said, " I've changed my mind, I will give you only ten dollars". At this the woman retorted "What do you think I am, a wh**e?". The man replied "Madam, we have already established that , we are now only negotiating the price".
I know you have all heard it. I am repeating it for the Saxenas. Hey guys, wake up, may be you all need to see a psychiatrist. I can recommend one in Delhi or USA. Contact Dr. Pradeepta Choudhry if you want the comforts of Hawaii. I promise you, he won't charge you a penny.
