Every superstar has his issues!!! Salman has ALWAYS been erratic, but his popularity and power didn't die down despite a lull in his career in the 2000(s). He is not like Rajesh Khanna who remained on top for just 5 years. Salman, on the contrary, has ruled the marquee for around three decades, along with the other two Khans!!!!

And, unlike Rajesh Khanna, no Amitabh Bachchan is looming on the horizon to take over the top spot. The Khan triumvirate have continued reigning supreme since the early nineties, and this ain't gonna change any time soon, regardless of the Hrithiks and Ranbirs!

Finally, Salman's rise is special because his charisma ALONE was responsible for his success. He never had the backing of any big production house - those pots of gold went to SRK. ETT is the FIRST TIME Salman is collaborating with YRF!!!!! And he has starred in ONLY ONE Karan Jphar production. Sallu amassed his popularity solely because of his appeal and talent, and hence he will never fade away.

But the Khans have been competing with each other and youngsters for ages, and hence they are immune to any other 'rising' superstars.

Salman's BIGGEST competition even today is SRK. But they each have their own space, their own niche, their own set of admiring fans and ardent haters, and their own set of superhits!!!! Why I prefer Salman is he never needed a YRF's help to make a mark. His biggest hits have been with lesser known production houses. Aamir does his own kind of films and is happy.

While everyone focuses on his 'negatives', it is also quite well known that he is one of the most loved stars in the industry. Most of the youngsters, from Arjun Kapoor to Ranbir Kapoor, admire his generosity and help. Several directors could launch themselves in the industry because of Salman - in fact, one of the biggest problems with Salman is he can never say NO to his friends, and hence stars in any dud they produce just to give them a chance!!!! Hence, he will NEVER be short of admirers. *touche*
