Asin wants to reach masses with commercial films

"I am satisfied with the work I have done till now. These are my initial years in Bollywood and I want to reach maximum number of people and only commercial films can help me achieve that," Asin told IANS.

"Creative satisfaction is important for me. Right now I am looking for characters which can give me creative satisfaction within the commercial format," she said.

On what basis do you say 'yes' to a film?

I think I have soft spot for these universally appealing, fun and emotional stories. Maybe because of that I end up choosing these films that the audiences also like.

Often after achieving success actors tend to look for performance-oriented characters. You have had three super-hit films – Ghajini, Ready and Housefull 2; don't you yearn for substantial roles?

At this point of time I am still starting out in Bollywood and I still want to stick within the commercial format. A nicely fleshed out character that is entertaining and within the commercial format that connects with the masses is what I am looking for at this current point.

Lately actors are cool about swearing onscreen. Vidya Balan did it in The Dirty Picture and Rani Mukerji swore in No One Killed Jessica. Will you be comfortable mouthing abusive words?

I have no problem. I haven't done it yet. But it depends on what kind of gaalis (swear words) I have to say.

everyone said the same when she rejected Khele hum jee jaan se...saying how could she refuse an offer from ashutosh gawrikar, who has made lagaan and blah blah...but just look at what happened to that film...because deepika had good market her career survived not only that film but many more flops...but can we say the same about Asin? Another flop after london dreams and she would have been dumped by bollywood. Asin is very intellegent person and actor and she has played her cards very well. Once established she can always do substantial roles...she has a long way to go. Lastly Barfi will be a Flop as people don't like seeing such films.
