Damn mods closed the topic after I had a response. Just posting here cos I typed it.
I can completely understand people being against Salman Khan for the drunk driving deaths and poaching incidents. Those were crimes he actually committed, was tried to be found guilty for but did not get punishment to the full extent of the law. That was something unethical and shows our judicial system and society lacking. Holding Salman Khan and his supporters accountable for him getting away is fair.
However, I do think accusing him of sexual assault is pushing it. Most reality shows have pre-scripted moments. This was clearly done in jest without malice. Aneek could have clearly refused it if he was that uncomfortable. If he was not, you cannot just blame Salman Khan. The entire judges panel and audience is there cheering and clapping and encouraging the moment. That means that each and every one of those people is equally guilty, along with the television audience. And in all honesty, all reality shows are notorious for putting contestants in uncomfortable spots.
I don't think you should be making topics like this. No matter what your opinion of Salman Khan, sexual assault is a serious crime and should not be used to mock Salman Khan. There are plenty of other negative qualities of him that can be legitimately picked on. It just demeans the actual crime and real victims. It also embarrasses Aneek if people take it that he seriously was a victim of assault.
With all due respect RTH, I never made fun of sexual assault, at the same time, I don't think it's ok to be stripping young boys on national television because some buffoon thinks it's funny, it was neither funny, nor cute.. no parent would consent to this. Reality shows maybe scripted, but this certainly wasn't, he was clearly pissed out of his head on this episode, he also wasted no opportunity to insult Himesh several times on that episode.
I find it hypocritical and double standard where on the one hand we want both sexes to be treated equally, and this would be regarded as a sexual assault if it was done to a woman, but it's ok to do it to a boy?, strip him topless and get him to sing. Till date, I have never seen any reality show contestant singing topless, neither have I ever seen any guest stripping a singer and asking them to sing.
What's wrong is wrong.
