Buddy, Recent films which did well received success coz of the time period they were Released, plus inflation high multiplex rates, there is huge list of films which u will find much better than films u mentioned, still they fare badly at box office making huge losses i.e. films like Black Friday, Zakhm, Tamanna, Daddy, Ardh Satya, Aakrosh, Maachis... A lot of movies went in just appreciation, but not benefiting the makers who invested money in them...
PST, Kahaani, VD - Release them now with Rowdy Rathore and Tell me The Success Rate, it will be washed away in appreciation only... They Released at specific time, making it profitable...
I agree with you to a small extent, but, where lies the problem if producers do decide to strategically set the release date in a time period where less competition is present?
They're looking out for their money as well, and they know that it would be too big a risk to release a smaller-budget film alongside a big budget masala movie
waise.. same logic can go to people who release movies that tehy think would be sure shot hits.
Look at Chandni Chowk To China, or Ra.One, or even failfest (Players)...
they seemed like movies which would've fetched marginal profits to the producers, but they didn't... but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have produced them at all, does it
shatranj ka khel hain, aur saare producers mohre hain, yeh khel kisi ko bhi chhodta nahin
