It is Abhishek Kapoor not Abhishek Bachchan. 😆

But agree with the rest of your post.

Depends on the appearance and role. like somebody mentioned, snooki can pass off being as a brown chick. Otherwise why even cast foreigners as complete desi because it looks so forced. Katrina had so many desi roles that now she doesn't look foreigner to me anymore. But at the same time I realize how different an average Indian girl would look like. Then there is Jacqueline, who does not look Indian at all.

But then I think about all these Indian actors who don't look Indian, like hrithik, john, neil...people have no problem if they play desi roles because they are talented. I only have problem when they cast untalented foreigners because the producer thinks white skin will attract majority of the audience.

Atleast the North Indians.

there's a huge difference between how Indian actresses fare in the West as oppose to white women being readily accepted into Bollywood. The light skinned white women are unknown names and most of them not talented to justify the oppurtunities they receive. Aishwarya Rai is touted as the "most beautiful woman in the world" tag, Freida Pinto is a housename because of Slumdog Millionaire. Even then, these actresses will not be seen playing America's sweetheart whereas white origin actresses like Katrina Kaif can play an all-Indian village girl. Forget her looks, her accent doesn't even match. You'd never see any of our Indian actresses playing a southern belle in small town America because that cannot be easily justified. With bollywood, throw logic out the door, it's all about the the short Indian men getting their share of fair-skinned firangis, majority of Indian men can fantasize.

forgot to add,

If the producers were casting foreign chicks out of artistic integrity, I'd say more power to them but clearly that's not the case. As someone mentioned before, if in all of India there is a lack of talented Indian girls who can genuinely portray an Indian girl, why not opt for a talented African American? It seems that instead of searching talent, producers are going above and beyond believing to add merit to their movies by sticking a foreign (white) girl in there regardless of whether she is good for the role.

You don't see white girls dominating the Chinese movie industry. At this moment there's no film industry in which brown women can relate to. American (white) women can easily watch such actresses as jennifer Aniston (America's sweetheart) but what about brown skinned women?

As an indian American living in the USA...and being given equal opportunity...i don't have the heart or it would be morally correct for me to say that ...foreigners should not get a chance to work in India...when millions of indians get a chance to work in foreign countries and make their lives better...
Bollywood industry is just another like anyother industry and may be its providing employment to foreign nationals...so what ...are the other industries in India not employing foreigners...than why should the Bollywood industry be an exception...
How come I as an immigrant to another country raise an objection to a foreigner working in any industry in India...when I myself am doing the same in America...If tomorrow...an industry in USA was to shun me from giving employment because of my brown skin...I would cry racism...then how can I be a racist and say that white girls be not employed by the BW industry...let them be employed...if the indian audience doesn't want to see them...they will go back...but who are we to stop anyone in today's global world and open market...
