She may be an international icon, but at heart she is completely Indian. It is ok to be judged by international standards in the West. In India, no.

She is an international icon. She has to meet international standards. She wasnt too posh to push unlike international icons. So obviously weight standards have to be those set by international ones.

There is no international standard that celebrities cannot give birth in a natural way. And there are a lot of celebs who weren't "too posh to push."

Trust Dailymail to make a mountain out of a molehill. The Indian media hardly featured this news. Dailymail have published this on one of their hero slots on their website and the article has over 500 comments already, each of them calling Indians what not for wanting Ash to lose weight.

I think when compared to a lot of other countries, Indians do appreciate women in all shapes and sizes. With regards to Ash- lets deal with it, she is overweight now. She may have a valid reason for it. No one would care as long as she decided not to parade herself infront of the media in Cannes. for someone who made a name for her looks- she is inviting the wrath if she appears in the state that she is in.

^I would say she is doing her job and fulfilling her professional committments.

If L'Oreal wants her to represent them at Cannes even if she is overweight, it just shows how high in regard they hold her and how important she is to them.

Basically take cheap shots at us natives, eh?
I agree with you about the Indian media. Most respected media names have supported Ash on the weight gain issue. Many blogged or tweeted their support for her. Others didnt even cover it.

On the Guardian site, Aishwarya's weight debate has taken over other political, sports, business news.

I feel that maybe shes trying to get pregnant again. But honestly betraying the country ? now that's stretching it.
