Kareena upset with Ramu
The actress is not happy about RGV's Time Machine being shelved
Kareena Kapoor is dumbfounded. She still can't believe that Ram Gopal Varma has shelved the much talked-about film Time Machine, which he was supposed to make with Shah Rukh Khan and her in the lead. This was one of the films that Kareena was banking on, at this point in her career.
Although she has worked with Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar, she has always wanted to work with Ram Gopal Varma. Incidentally, when Kareena had been informed by her secretary that Ramu was making a film with Shah Rukh Khan and was looking for the female lead, she had actually walked into Ramu's office to claim the coveted role, one which Rani Mukherji and Urmila Matondkar were eyeing too.
Kareena even walked out of Harry Baweja's film, Love Story 2050, which is supposed to be the launch pad for Harman Baweja, to accommodate Ramu's film. Our source reveals, "Bebo was being paid nearly Rs 3 crore for Love Story 2050, her highest fee so far." When Kareena parted ways with the Bawejas amicably, she returned the signing amount. "I don't want to reveal the amount but I have refunded it to Harry," she had said. Kareena was very excited about her film with Shah Rukh and Ram Gopal.
So it came like a bolt from the blue when she read reports about Ramu shelving the film to concentrate on Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay. "Kareena was extremely hurt. She didn't know what to do. She called Ramu from Vancouver, where she was performing at the Rockstar concert, to check out the news," says our source.
Kareena is at a loss now. The actress can't return to Love Story 2050 since Harry has already signed Priyanka Chopra for it.
"Kareena agreed to work for Ramu at half her remuneration and she was looking really forward to the project. She had even blocked her dates," says our source.
Meanwhile, our source says that most actors are disinterested in Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay. Even Urmila Matondkar, Ramu's muse once a upon a time, is clueless about the project. "All I know is that I am playing the role of Helen in the film. But I don't know when Ramu plans to start the film," says Urmila. "Why don't you ask him about it?" Abhishek Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan have also walked out of the film, citing date problems. Now we are waiting to see when Ramu starts shooting for his film, considering he has yet to finalise actors to play Veeru and Basanti in it.
RAMU SPEAKS :
"Although nothing has been finalised yet, I definitely plan to work with Kareena in future, in another project. In fact, even in the past I have offered her a couple of films under my banner, to be made by other directors, but she has refused them saying that she wants to work only with me. So I will certainly cast her in a future film of mine."
