| John Abraham and Nana Patekar in a still from Taxi No 9211 | After John and Akshay in Garam Masala, John and Nana are the new dance buddies.
The song is 'Meter down' in Ramesh Sippy's Taxi No 9211. Sameera Reddy is also a part of the song, shot on Friday and Saturday at Film City. The song was finished in two shifts — 9 am to 9 pm shift on Day One, while Day Two was a 2 pm to 2 am shift. The song
'Meter down' will appear during the end credits of the film. It has been sung by Adnan Sami and choreographed by Farah Khan's assistant Piyush, who also worked on Home Delivery. The song, Meter Down, will be a major part of the promotional campaign of the film. Nana couldn't stop dancing
According to a unitwallah, "On the second day, Nana kept dancing till 6.30 am even after the whole thing had been canned, satisfactorily. He told John that Meter down will rock and their dancing jodi will be seen just as popular as Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit were in Dola Re in Devdas. John and Nana's body language had to be seen to be believed. Nana normally doesn't shoot late. This was perhaps the first time."
Says director Milan Luthria, "I was shocked by the chemistry that John and Nana shared, especially in this song. Both Nana and John have a look which is different from their look in the film." Song's got a '60s feel
When contacted, John confirmed, "I still can't stop dancing even though I am sitting at home. I had a blast." John adds that the song has a very '60s feel to it. "The kind of set was also like the one which was seen in 60s. There's a New Orleans feel to the song." What Meter Down's about
"Meter Down is an abstract interpretation of the film and its characters. We roped in ten dancing girls from London, New York and Russia to add fun to the song. Sameera adds lot of oomph and glamour. In the film, she plays John's love interest; but in the song, she sways with Nana, too. The audio of Meter Down will play in the background in the film. John-Nana hit it off
John adds that people have misconceptions about Nana. "Nana is a very easy-going and hassle-free person with people who don't show off. He is a very simple man, and likes simple and hard-working people. We hit it off from Day One. I smiled and he smiled back, and we started rocking." On ensemble cast and crew
Final words from the director on his ensemble cast and crew? "I know Piyush at a personal level; he is an accomplished guy. As for getting Adnan to sing it, I wanted a voice that stands out because the song has tremendous attitude. Above all, John and Nana who are constantly in each other's face band have good chemistry," explains Milan. |
