Story: Supercop ACP Yashvardhan ( John Abraham) thinks his strength lies in the fact that he is a loner, hence he can go all out against the drug mafia with no fear. But things change when he falls in love with the vivacious Maya ( Genelia D'Souza) in the middle of a tough assignment where he must contend with a fierce opponent ( Vidyut Jamwal), hungry for revenge. Will love become his weakness or can the tough cop carry on his mission, undeterred?

Movie Review: A remake of the 2003 Tamil blockbuster Kaakha Kaakha,Force is a heady cocktail of high powered action and breezy romance that ensure there's never a dull moment. Director Nishikant Kamat too goes the Rohit Shetty-Abhinav Kashyap (Singham-Dabangg) way and tries to create an old-fashioned action film which sticks to the tried-and-tested formula of pitching the hero against the villain in umpteen high testosterone sequences of pure mara-mari. And for punctuation, there are the romantic interludes where the macho superhero, awkward with emotions, tries his best to forge a strange new relationship which demands a totally new passion from him: one that has nothing to do with battering heads and smashing vehicles.

But hey, it's the age of serenading the vintage, isn't it and retro is truly in vogue. Also, the fact that Force showcases some superb craftsmanship, both in its action and emotional sequences and has a second half that literally hurtles at a frenetic pace, ensures that you never lose interest in the onscreen proceedings. Things to enjoy: oddballs John and Genelia trying to find a common meeting point, with Genelia openly declaring she wants to make love to the hunky cop, the cop quartet that tirelessly wages a war against the drug cartel, the fight sequences shot with art and finesse by Ayanankar Bose, the high emotional quotient in an out and out action film...And yes, how can we forget this: John Abraham's pure beefcake appeal.

Go for it, all you Gods of War enthusiasts.

Force Movie Review

Updated on: Sep 30, 2011
Force:

John Abraham had been missing from the film scene from quite some time now, and the actor is back with an out-and-out action flick. John says that he wants to be known as action Abraham post the film, so will his wish be fulfilled? Well, most certainly YES. Nishikant Kamat's 'Force' is an action blockbuster that is certainly a treat to watch.

Story:
ACP Yashwardhan (John Abraham) heads a team of four fearless officers of the Narcotics Deparment who have sworn to burst the drug racket prevailing in the country. Yash's strength is that he has no one of his own who can become his weakness. Then enters Maya (Genelia Dsouza) and the two fall in love. Yash is initially reluctant to commit to the relationship but lates gives in. Now, the mastermind behind the drug racket Vishnu (Vidyut Jammal) is clear that the weaknesses of these four officers is what will help him win the battle.

Analysis:
'Force' is a remake of the blockbuster Tamil film 'Khakha Khakha' that starred Suriya. Yes the story has been tweaked a little but the basic plot is the same. Nishkant Kamat handles it well and gives you a clean entertainer that is not over-the-top in any case. It's real and believable unlike other Hindi action films where the lead actor is seen bashing 20 goons on his own.

Performances:
John is given the best role of his career. His expression less face required this kind of a character that has mostly anger on his face and smiles just occasionally. The actor's performance is decent enough. Genelia Dsouza is her bubbly self and looks quite captivating. Apart from looking cute in the entire film, the song sequences make her look sexy. Mohnish Behl, Sandhya Mridul are decent enough. Icing on the cake is Vidyut who plays an intelligent villain and shines.

Technicalities:
The film was not flawless but the action and the cinematic experience doesn't lets you look for flaws. Direction, screenplay, background score is good. The music too is soothing. Though the film did look a bit stretched in parts, it is intriguing.

Plus Points:
Action
Genelia's performance
John's flawlwss physique

Minus Points:
Stretched in parts

Final Word:
Definitely not worth a miss

Rating: 3/5

John and Genelia are just not the right actors for the role Suriya and Jo played. Even the song Uyirin Uyire is soo good compared to the hindi version. If you get a chance do watch the Tamil version.

I do agree with you as the tamil version was such a hit but i wonder which ending has been chosen for Force as the Tamil Version had a sad ending while the Telegu Version had an happy ending 😕

Looking at the bike throwing promos, I think they went with an angry, violent ending. 😉
