This week's new release, the Ashok Nanda directed RIVAAZ got some appreciation from its target audience, but unfortunately the same could not be translated into collections. Last week's Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar starrer, MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN, saw a pronounced fall (Tuesday onwards) after a good weekend of about 25.60 crores. But as we had informed earlier, the film is already an above average success for its producer and worldwide distributor, Yash Raj Films, netting 37 crores plus from India during its opening week.
Meanwhile after a gigantic first week, the collections of Salman Khan's Eid-Ganesh Chaturthi bonanza, BODYGUARD, crashed badly in the second week. But that makes no difference to the blockbuster status of BODYGUARD, the total of which stands at 132.50 crores in two weeks from India, in addition to the superb overseas gross. Needless to add that the postponement of the three Kapoor starrer, MAUSAM, stands to benefit both MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN and BODYGUARD. |
