Himesh Reshammiya earned a lot of recognition with his return in the film Bodyguard. While the actor and composer is busy with his comeback in film as a lead, it is noticed that the song Teri Meri is not as original as the credits claim.
In Bodyguard, Himesh composed 4 tracks of the film, out of which one was Teri Meri. The song is similar to a Romanian folk song La Betleem
(Down There in Bethlehem), which has been rendered by various artists in the country. One of the latest renditions of the song was composed by Cleopatra
Stratan, the youngest singers to score a commercial success.
When spoken to Himesh, he asserted that his tune was original. Himesh says,"Teri Meri is a raag based original composition. Salman bhai had a folk melody in mind, which I developed into a purely Indian raag based melody with alaaps and Indian phrased melody. There is no controversy at all to this."
Earlier Pritam was supposed to be the music director of Bodyguard, but Salman decided to handover the responsibility to Himesh. In the credits Pritam was mentioned as a Guest Composer who worked on the song I Love You.
