Hey all

we all know what classics are..the kind of films u watch once, and u know that people (or yourself) will be watching it on dvd 20-30 years later..or films which sort of set off a trend, or a benchmark for future films...memorable,cult films basically...some examples include sholay, HAHK,ddlj, Kaagaz ke phool,Lamhe, kabhie kabhie, andaaz apna apna, hera pheri, Hum dil de chuke sanam, lagaan, DCH, QSQT etc..

acc to me,todays films are more "easily disposed" types...they release, make money and leave...nothing particularly bad, but nothing memorable either..definately not the kind u'd want to watch some 20 odd years later..

which was the last film u saw, that had that quality?? or that came close to achieving that status??

I think 3Idiots was the last movie with that kind of quality. I'm pretty sure I can watch that movie 20 years down the line and still like it.

Nice topic. I recently watched HANK for the first time...I seriously don't understand what ppl like about that movie...it's such a bore.

To answer your question...the last movie I really loved was Singham with ajay devgan in it. Man the movie was so entertaining I def wanna buy the DVD. I have seen it like 4 times already. My baby sister who is like 6 years old is also addicted to the movie. Everytime we have a family movie night she suggests Singham lol.

I wouldn't call it a classic thought...but it's def the only bollywood movie since OUATIM that I really loved and has a repeat value for me.

i agree..in the recent times, i think 3 idiots and jab we met have tht quality...also the munnabhai series..they may not be the best films around, but i can rewatch them over and over again, without getting bored. And im sure its the kind of film i'll watch with my kids and family on a lazy sunday afternoon 20-30 years later...

Yes JWM is one such film also. Personally I can watch SNT 20 years down the line as well ( I feel like this is such an underrated/under-hyped film 😆). Munnabhai series are great fun as well.

Umm I can also watch Swades, KHNH, CDI 20 years later but that's more my bias for SRK speaking 😳 😆 I don't think the SRK films are AMAZING but good enough for a repeat viewing for me :)

Rang de Basanti is nice as well..

Rang De Basanti...it influenced lot of Indians to get thinking that mass movements can make a change. Then there was Munnabhai 2, 3 Idiots and JWM.

oh YEAAH! Socha Na tha =D

food for thought though, some old movies that are now known as classics, did terribly at the box office...

for example, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Mera Naam Joker, etc..

I wonder which one of those types are movies from this decade will be considered a classic in the far future
