absolutely your view. and I can see why you do not like her. i have a different opinion. i think it is ok to mock and ridicule something if it is something that is bitter truth. i have read her interviews and i think she is right about what she says about her motherland. she didn't fit in her country, she didn't feel she was treated right because of her skin color and she is expressing it. she found her place in hollywood. she probably was born in the wrong place! 😃

@ Jealousy, envy et al: Oh c'mon, what has the public got to be jealous of an actress?! ...unless the person in question aspires to be an actress (or actor). I can see why the peeps in Showbiz may envy her - but the public? That makes very little sense, in my opinion. I think people are just stunned that someone like her got the opportunity to get so big while so many others are left behind. The same would have happened with another actress or actor if s/he turned out so big out of nothing and suddenly too.

And people who don't like her aren't "haters". 'Hate' and 'dislike' are two different (albeit close but still different) words, even if they are used interchangeably. Dislike is the simple act or feeling of not liking somebody or something. Hate implies intent dislike. Hate is at the extreme end of a spectrum, while love is at the other end. Like and dislike are at the middle, while indifference or apathy could be considered to be at the absolute middle. When we hate someone, the person ought to have done something really loathsome. Hate indicates extreme feeling for someone or something even if it is a negative emotion. I don't think most of us 'hate' her in that sense. That said, I don't claim to be an expert on this topic. Who knows, a few here or there may indeed 'hate' her.

I don't hate her. I don't like her, either. She is an overrated lucky star to me - but then, so are over 90% of the "actors" in the industry (I will not mention their names for obvious reasons - already Freida's topics have a negative reputation of crossing too many pages, most of them with not-so-civil replies). So why single her out? To me she is not very different from the stars or even the 'actors' out there. She isn't very different from the others out there, except that one made it very big, while many others are still lacking behind. But other than that?

why do people take so much offense when some outsider says something that is true. e.g. our crabmentality. sonam btw has been screaming this forever but nobody really hates her for it. in fact i seen people agree with her lol. yes it is hard to swallow bitter truth about your own from someone else... but it doesn't change the fact that not many are impressed by freida pinto or her looks in desi land. but her charm and beauty is only understood by another group of people. different folks different strokes.

to be politically correct...the title of the article should have been why do majority of Indians not impressed by Freida Pinto. But that is not a title that would get attention LOL!

completely agree with u..nice to see sonam speaking abt it even though she is one of India's most loved young actress

I don't have much problems with Frieda, she has a long way to go as an actress but she's quickly becoming a fashion symbol and generally seems pleasant.

Indian envy/jealousy/malice aside, i think its just disbelief that such a plain girl would make it so big. Indian's have their own scale of beauty, Frieda isn't 'bollywood beautiful', she's pretty in her own way, a way in which American's find exotic and unique.

An average blonde in America wont find success in Hollywood, but might make it into a bollywood item number. Her success in India would be met with surprise in America. I think thats the case with Frieda, a lot of Indians don't find her to be drop-dead-gorgeous, which shouldn't be our only concern in an actress, but nonetheless we all have our own cup of tea.

I thought she was great in Slumdog, and i hope she continues finding success.

i think its bcuz she isnt pretty like aish n katrina. i mean i find her very pretty but i guess in bollywood she wudnt be thought of as someone who wud be famous. so its suprising to them that she is famous in hollywood.
theres no reason to hate her but theres no reason to like her either. i dont think shes a great actress but ive only seen slumdog of hers. i hope she does great in her career...shes very pretty and well dressed i hope she proves her acting merit too with time
