Well Kajol excels at playing bubbly loud type of characters in candyfloss movies 😛..Maybe the reason why she has some hits to her credit cuz clearly during her era in the 90's it was the only genre which could draw audience into theatres.Yes she is a limited actress and goes OTT ..same like the great Rani M who have to turn on the waterworks each time for making any 'serious' roles work..Its not really easy playing the chirpy girl next door u know 😃! I've noticed all actresses who are spontaneous on screen are labelled as - KAjol,Juhi,Kareena to latest Anushka 😆 ..Its tough to excel in such roles.. as hard as making the tragic roles work.. proof - Ash was not up to mark in dhoom2,action replay,many romcoms cuz her forte is serious epic roles like Chokerbali,Raincoat,devdas..Rani was V v v bad and cringeworthy in all her bubbly roles prime example is bunty aur bubbly..Even in fisrt half of Hum tum,NOKJ..She is good in roles like veer zara,black,chalte chalte..anyways to each his own

waise Kajol did win Zee cine awards and some others also for Fanaa not only filmfare😛..Yeah she is Ff's fav like Aish is IIFa's :D

I agree with u...I don't find Rani natural in bubbly roles...at least not as good as Anuska, bebo or kajol... She does well in subtle roles like Yuva ect

Well if Ash didnt win best actress award then surely she have won global icon or some other award in IIFA..You think she deserved all those awards fair!..Kajol did win many other awards for dushman,KKKH,gupt,DDLJ,Fanaa not only filmfare.I agree this one time it was unfair...Then again i dont why only Kajol is targeted.? even Rani won over Urmila cuz hum tum was a hit and ek hasina thi was a flop..its not happening for the first time..Actresses of hit movies are always given prominence

MNIK was a bigger hit than BBB,Ishqiya..If it was another seasonal actress instead of Sonakshi in dabaang I m sure she would have won

Haha Smartie, but those films came in different years. Ash didn't win when Tabu was nominated for Maqbool or Astitva. HDDCS came in 1999. Astitva in 2000. Devdas in 2002 while Maqbool in 2003.

Totally agree...thats the point I was trying to make

I think Tabu has given better perfomances than Rani,Aish or Kajol.But she hasnt won many popular awards cuz they usually tend to favour main stream movies which are bigger hits

They gave the award to people who are contributing to Indian cinema on a global platform. So Irrfan Khan and A R Rahman got one each too! And she has received these global icon awards from not just IIFA, but in others too!

You ask why is Kajol targetted. Simple reason - when Rani wins over Urmila undeservedly once it is overlooked. But what if it happens time and again? Then the focus obviously shifts towards you. That's what happened in Kajol's case.

I totally agree with you here. I don't get why ppl say Aish is a fav at IFFA when I don't even remember her winning for anything at IFFA. She didn't even win for Guzaarish..which many thought she will win just because she was a Bachan. And I thought she had a high chance of winning for Guzaarish...because I heard she was good.

Yeah, people keep saying that and I get tired repeating the same things! 😭

But you should watch her in Guzaarish. She is fabulous. Sofia was a very complex and multi-layered role and she did it with perfection.

I m not saying Ash didnt desrve any global icon award..But when she wins repeatedly some kind of award in IIFA ppl tend to say its cuz AB Sr is the organizer.Fans like you feel hurt same goes for us.Just cuz Kajol has won FF awards quite a few times ppl say its cuz she is SRK's chamchi.Maybe this time she was not deserving doesnt mean ppl take away the merit from her all the times..Has Anil kapoor won any global icon award waise?

I dont think this trend is gonna change.Kajol may not be winning any more she is not in the popular race anymore.But the trend of giving awards for actress with BB wll continue.Even Katrina wil star screen popular for Rajneeti.I dont think she was more deserving than Anushka or Aish but currently she is more popular

Hey firstly, Aish won the global icon award only ONCE. She doesn't win these awards repeatedly. BTW, Anil Kapoor did win the global icon award last year. 😊

Every actress at some point of time is given an award which they don't deserve. But Kajol/Filmfare connection is generally talked about bcos this happens a lot of times with them!!
