Why no awards for Kajol? - Page 2

I love kajol. But to be honest most of her films she does is not award worthy..esp like Fanna with amir and MNIK. But she was def good in U Me or Hum or whatever it's called. Yes she was better than Kareena (G3)...but I still don't think kajol deserved her award at filmfare for MNIK. Anu in BBB or Vidya in Ishqia deserved it better. Even though I wasn't impressed with vidya that much...her role was def more interesting and different than what kajol did in MNIK.

Kajol def has the talent to pull off interesting roles...but she usually does films with khans..which doesn't give her enough scope as an actress. She has the same problem as bebo...they both don't sign challenging roles.

I loved Kajol in We are family though. She as way better in this movie than MNIK. But WAF flopped in India...so she couldn't get popular award for that. Only hit films get popular awards. Sigh! Even if WAF was a hit...I don't think she deserved an award for it...when there are nominations like vidya and anuska in BBB.

On the contrary I feel Kajol gets way too many awards, especially Filmfare.

Only Filmfare and not others gave her awards for K3G, MNIK and Fanaa. And it's general knowledge how big a fan the editor of the magazine is of Kajol's.

For example, they chose Kajol in K3G over Tabu in Chandini Bar as Best actress. How bloody fixed. I was happy Tabu got her due by winning the National award for the same film over Kajol.

Kajol IMO is a limited actress and passes off well through these candy floss KJo films.

However, it's so weird but I liked her performance in We are family. And I thought she was bad in MNIK. People pay way too much importance to box office.

Kajol doesnt deserve awards for MNIK... Vidya in Ishqiya is most deserving!

anyways i think kajol is overrated when it comes to acting!

awards are meaningless now... they just give the award to the nominee that comes to the show and dances!

Even if Tabu deserved it...I don't think she would have won. Chandini Bar was not a huge hit as K3G. Like u said...ppl give too much importance to hit films. I have seen like on scene from CB...it was the last scene where she was crying...oh my it looked so real and convincing.

Well Kajol excels at playing bubbly loud type of characters in candyfloss movies 😛..Maybe the reason why she has some hits to her credit cuz clearly during her era in the 90's it was the only genre which could draw audience into theatres.Yes she is a limited actress and goes OTT ..same like the great Rani M who have to turn on the waterworks each time for making any 'serious' roles work..Its not really easy playing the chirpy girl next door u know 😃! I've noticed all actresses who are spontaneous on screen are labelled as - KAjol,Juhi,Kareena to latest Anushka 😆 ..Its tough to excel in such roles.. as hard as making the tragic roles work.. proof - Ash was not up to mark in dhoom2,action replay,many romcoms cuz her forte is serious epic roles like Chokerbali,Raincoat,devdas..Rani was V v v bad and cringeworthy in all her bubbly roles prime example is bunty aur bubbly..Even in fisrt half of Hum tum,NOKJ..She is good in roles like veer zara,black,chalte chalte..anyways to each his own

waise Kajol did win Zee cine awards and some others also for Fanaa not only filmfare😛..Yeah she is Ff's fav like Aish is IIFa's :D

Touche!! Compare Tabu's crying scene to Kajol's crying scene in MNIK. Tabu was amazing in CB.

People say that because Bachchans were at one point the ambassadors of IIFAs. If Ash was IIFA's favourite, she would've won the awards for Dhoom 2, Jodhaa Akbar, Guru, Sarkar Raj and Guzaarish etc. But she only got nominations and not awards.

When she did get awards, it was for HDDCS and Devdas, much before there was any Bachchan connection. And when she got it for those two films, she swept awards at every award ceremony, not just IIFA. Unlike Kajol who only won at FF for MNIK and didn't even get nominations for the film at some other awards like IIFA.

^ Yeah Tabu's crying scene at the end of CB..was so raw and looked so real. Kajol does a lot of commercial roles...I think she can pull off doing roles like CB as well. Kajol is a natural actress...and I think with the right movie...she can be raw too. It's just that she doesn't do movies like Tabu...so we will never know. But I believe in kajol's talent. I thought she was really good in Dhusman. Her crying scenes were raw and looked convincing and non commerical..melodramatic emotions...and I think it's because the film itself wasn't commercial. So there we go..she can def pull it off...just needs the right roles...considering the kind of star she is...she usually will be offered commercial..candy floss roles. Sigh!

I totally agree with you here. I don't get why ppl say Aish is a fav at IFFA when I don't even remember her winning for anything at IFFA. She didn't even win for Guzaarish..which many thought she will win just because she was a Bachan. And I thought she had a high chance of winning for Guzaarish...because I heard she was good.
