AISHWARYA SAYS NO TO 'THE RISING'
Ketan Mehta's forthcoming movie 'The Rising' is in the news from day one, each time for a different reason. Readers may recall that Prince Charles had given the muhurat clap for the film earlier this month during his visit to India. The movie is based on the life of Mangal Panday, who was a soldier in the British army and triggered the first war of independence in 1857. Aamir Khan plays the role of Mangal Panday. Besides him, Rani Mukherjee, Aishwarya Rai and several Bollywood and Hollywood stars were supposed to be acting in this film.
While Aish was supposed to play the role of ''Jwala'', it is understood that she has herself opted out of the venture as the two parties have not been able to find mutually convenient dates for executing the first half of the film. The news of Aish falling out was officially given by Simone Sheffield of Canyon Entertainment, the US agent of Aishwarya. According to Simone, sheer inability on Aishwarya's part to meet the requirement for dates as demanded by the producers has made her opt out. Producer Bobby Bedi and Director Ketan Mehta were not available for comment on this issue.
