and yes comedy is something that doesnt come to her naturally...an actress of recent times who excelled in comedy for me was Sridevi!!

True for actors but we are discussing stars. Stars fall and rise, actors always shine.
Mainstream bollywood and its stars are mostly directors' actors. Even the ones we revere here have faltered and performed dismally in many films. Some hamming, some stratagem, some aura, some dance, some PR; each strike a chord with a larger niche of audience. Aishwarya, Kareena, Priyanka and Katrina have their audience and in the newer lot, Deepika, Sonam, Anushka created their mark too. Who stays and who fades, only time will tell.

Sridevi could be the last of the female superstar who excelled in all kinds of roles, for demanding the choreographer and singer of her choice, for commanding the highest remuneration an actor could get (in one film she commanded a price more than Rajnikant and made news). In Khuda Gawah, she was paid same or more than Mr. Bachchan. I don't see any female actor commanding that respect and power today or in future.

I highly doubt it.
Sunehri tops my list of unbelievably awful performances.
I also saw her first hindi movie recently..she was horrible in it. I see no improvement in the commercial genre from that performance to the one in Robot (I honestly didn't even manage to finish Robot because of Aish).
HDDCS and Devdas are exceptions to this..Aish really needs a good director to extract a good performance from her. I have no hopes from Ladies and Gentlemen with Abhi.

When the thread is long, I usually skim through and read few people like you, Dexter, Nukta and few others. That's why I quoted you.
Yes, Bollywood and its stars are mystifying. Ye tara wo tara har tara, dekho jise bhi lage pyara. 😆

Can we stop accusing members of being an MID? If you're suspicious about a certain member than PM the dev team.
As for the OT - I do cringe when I read about Aish signing things like Action Replayy and Ladies and Gentlemen because as many already know, 'commercial acting' isn't exactly her cup of tea. I would much rather see her doing more Ravaan's and Guzaarish's even if they flop at the box-office.
Though I wouldn't MIND seeing her attempt something like AA .. she should just stay away from the rom-com's (AR and Ladies and Gentlemen)

Desi Audience gave her a loud and clear answer in 2010! Major critics and a lot of people on online forums and YT and pinkvilla also show their love to her from time to time. 😆 She doesn't care about mainstream bollywood, she doesn't care about bollywood.. i see her being genuninely happy when she is cutting ribbons in holly, when she is on letterman, oprah.. 60 minute.. she hardly ever does anything to try to reach out to the aam junta which watches bollywood movies.. and rightfully aam junta just doesn't give a damn about her.. and her tag along hubby.. who is as good as her designer purse.. they honestly look good on the oscar red carpet.. attending the tennis matches.. she looks good in the loreal ads.. i don't think these socialites belong in bollywood.. they have found their true profession.. and its pretty lound and clear by now that acting is just secondary to them... so there is no point in fretting over their so called "acting" skills when they themselves seem hardly interested in acting...

Aishwarya is well equipped star/actor. Even if she doesn't get a hit. she is bound to get another film. maybe not bollywood, but even a southie film. I do give her a lot of credit for opening up to the larger audience around the world. She was the first to be on PBS as an Indian starlet. She has connections and she knows how to be professional with each and everyone. She maybe fake during interviews, but, the less you reveal, the more people will wonder and talk about her. 👍🏼
