Well that's your preference that you prefer these movies, but overall the audience doesn't give a care...and if the audience doesn't care for a long time, then directors won't give her a shot in movies

She's got a large body of work, so does her better half Abhi...clearly having a large body of work doesn't correlate to performing excellent in them

Foul language and accusing members as haters is against the forum rules [/quote]

Everyone has strengths as an actress and clearly Aishwarya fits period movies best. Just like Vidya fits certain roles. Priyanka fits certain roles. Priyanka plays the same in all her movies and only changes when she worked with Vishal and even then she brought zero depth to 7KM.
Kareena's been living off JWM for years but what has she done since? I'll take Raavan or Guzaarish over a lame We Are Family.
Actually correction. Some have zero strengths like Kat who does nothing in her movies.
As for stuff like HT or JWM. Something like HDDCS or Kandukondain certainly fit the criteria. AA for SN are awful movies so who cares whether she has something similar.

As for body of work. I didn't think I had to spell it out but obviously I meant she had quality body of work.
And mentioning Abhishek's body of work. You know a flop movie doesn't mean a bad movie. I'll take a Raavan or a KHHJS over the crap a lot of the actors are doing. What's Ranbir or Imran doing that is so great?

I love members who like to be all sarcastic and nasty in their post and then throw rules at someone when they reply in a similar fashion.

That shows that you really have no idea what other work kareena has done.
I think majority would agree here that kareena better in Chameli and Omkara than in JWM. Completley different roles, yet she nailed em.
Most people bang on about JWM coz it was a commercial film, and Chameli, Omkara and Dev were relatively not.
Then we blame these actresses for not venturing out and doing something challenging. Cant blame them when people dont even watch those films.

I think Aishwarya is a great actress but she's a very much a director's actor. It depends on her director on how well she does in a movie. At the same time, she does really well in more dramatic and periodic movies. Taal, HDDCS, Kandukondian Kandukondian, Devdas, Umrao Jaan, JA, even Guzaarish, she did very well. One thing I never liked her in is comedy.
In Bollywood, I think every actor has their own forte. I can never imagine Katrina in a period movie, I can't imagine Vidya doing well in a commerical movie, I can't imagine Priyanka doing certain things, same with Bebo and others.

Unfortunately, I don't think so either. And to be honest, I have no hopes from Ladies and Gentlemen either. Infact, I'm hoping that the movie never gets made. I also have this feeling that Heroine, if Aishwariya is indeed a part of it going by the media reports, will bomb as well (although I hope it doesn't).

It's quite unfortunate that I happen to remember more of Aishwariya's flop/bad films and very few of her good/hit films. She was SO bad in Action Replay...that was some bigtime dimaag ki dahi right there. I watch both AR and G3 on the same day and ended up enjoying the latter more, and Kareena was a big part of why I enjoyed G3 more. Dhoom 2 was such an embarrassment. Can't remember the last film of her's that I thoroughly enjoyed. Gotta go Google it now.

And if Aishwariya fails at commercial acting, then she's not really versatile now, is she? How come Kareena can pull of something like Omkara and JWM both, but Aishwariya would most likely fail in the latter? I'm seriously bored of watching her in periodic/serious/dramatic roles. Like I know she can do them, but I want to see more and when she does a full-on commercial role, she falls flat.

Aishwariya, I believe, is quite...limited as an actress.

i personally think she has great potential to be a commerical actress. she has everything going for her: beautiful face, can dance, modium of talent and charisma.
the listed movies have ALL happened after her marriage after which i think ash changed drastically. i feel there is something holding her back and so she excels in period films where the role is defined and there is that restraint she has portray and its something she obviously feels.
pre-marriage, commerical films like Jeans, Taal, Josh were a hit but others like kyun ho gaaya na, dil ka rishta, kuch naa kaho etc were flops but she carried the film on her shoulders...

so i think if she can find her comfort level and not let the bachchan tag rule her, i think ash can be great commercial actress.

PS: not a fan; dont bash.

agree@ bold... good directors have extracted good perfromances out of her...but then I wouldnt call her a great actress coz in a great actor's case you cannot find fault with their performance even in a bad film...say a naseeruddin shah or a paresh rawal, who too have done tons of bad films...
and yes comedy is something that doesnt come to her naturally...an actress of recent times who excelled in comedy for me was Sridevi!!

The probability of her succeeding in the commercial sphere is relatively low however i'd love her to act in films like Dhoom, just to get a good laugh in

FINALLY a well balanced view point. This discussion is getting too ugly, the opposite of what Aishwarya is.

As for her films she has given some kick ass performances like devdas HDDCS Taal etc and her niche is traditional melodramatic roles. Good for her. I cOuldnt imagine anyone else attempting the roles of Paro or Umrao Jaan. However; commercial cinema now is westernised in it's delivery and there have only been a handful of films where female actors had a meaty role to play. The last being Geet in JWM.

I'm sure u all have noticed the trend in recent times of women In films just being eye candy. The industry has regressed. We went through a periOd in the 90s and early 2000s when female centred roles were greater in number.

If Aishwarya is going to just bE eye candy it won't work give her a dramatic role and a director like SLB and watch her shine.

In this era though the commercial and critical success belongs to kareena kapoor. The rest can eat pizza and stay at home

Commercial? No...because she tried it didn't work and Koolchick that video "are you like checking me out?" OMG...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I still regret the day I even set eyes on watching the film!!!

She did better in her other roles such as Taal, HDDCS, Devdas, Raincoat etc but commercial meh...bad choice.
