Amole Gupte launches the next Darsheel

After creating a child sensation in Taare Zameen Par, the director will hone the talent of nine-year-old Partho in Stanley Ka Dabba

Posted On Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 04:40:25 AM

It's been almost four years since Taare Zameen Par slipped away from Amole Gupte's hands leaving him with a mere mention on the credits roll.

The director has moved on since then, but his child star fixation seems to have remained.

He is now ready to launch yet another child actor for his next, Stanley Ka Dabba. The child actor is nine-years-old, Partho and unlike Darsheel his cinematic education began at the age of four.

Amole confirms, "With Darsheel, I didn't get much time to teach him about cinema as I wished. I don't want to go into the nitty-gritty of why I was not given ample time to make Darsheel a full-fledged actor. With Partho it was different. I introduced him to world cinema from the age of four."

But, Amole refuses to acknowledge that Partho was created out of any feeling of betrayal that he felt when TZP was taken away from him. "That was so long ago. I met Darsheel recently.

Every child is an individual. We can't compare Darsheel and Partho," he said.
Interestingly, Partho in Stanley Ka Dabba and Darsheel starrer Zokkomom will be seen within a month of one another.

I remember an article I read of Amole's when TZP released that he would be producing and directing his next film (as a result of not being able to direct TZP, I assume) - I guess this is the one.

Well we will finally see his directorial skills.

I actually didn't want to watch the trailer seeing the name of the movie and all but I was pleasantly suprised. The boy who plays Stanley is such a good actor....some of our top actors should be ashamed of themselves when they see this movie.

All these 'different' filmmakers have formed their own clique to take on the big fish in the industry. 😛

'Stanley Ka Dabba' is not 'Taare Zameen Par': Vishal Bhardwaj

Apr 13, 2011 - 15:38hrs IST

Tare Zameen Par' famed Amol Gupte launches his style of another children film - 'Stanley Ka Dabba'. The first look and the promo of the film were launched by Amol's filmmaker friend Vishal Bhardwaj.

On the occasion Bhardwaj said, "I have seen the film and it is something that cannot be created again. It captures all that we have done in our school days like we all must have slyly eaten our tiffins before recess. My experience of watching the film has been that when I came out of the film theater, I asked Amol what is there to eat."

He added, "I am happy for Amol. While I was working with him in 'Kaminey' in which he acted I discovered that a person who can act so well, must be definitely a very good director. The phase that he was going through then, I wondered how could he not make a good film. He is a natural talent. So, when I saw the film, I offered him that if no one comes forward to back it, I will do it. But now Fox Star India is marketing the film."

On concluding note he said, "the film is not 'Taare Zameen Par' but 'Chand Zameen Par'."

Excludes Khan from trials of his next film, says the actor-producer isn't part of his 'thought process', that KJo has offered 'support'

Amole Gupte recently had a screening of his next, Stanley Ka Dabba for Karan Johar, Vishal Bhardwaj and a few others. Aamir Khan wasn't invited. Amole wasn't invited for the premiere of their last film together -- Taare Zameen Par -- and probably, saw this as a way to return the courtesy.

A still from Stanley Ka Dabba

Says a source, "Amole recently had trials for KJo and Vishal, who came away impressed by his effort. While VB attended the music release of the film, KJo has promised Gupte help in marketing and promoting the film. Amole appreciates the gesture."

Amole candidly admits to Aamir's exclusion: "He is not a part of my thought process. I haven't given a precise thought as to whether I will invite him for my future trials or not. If it is to happen, it will happen naturally "
He adds, "I showed the film to Karan and Vishal when I was doing an offline cut. They have been a huge support to me. Vishal told the media that after watching my film, "aisa laga ki chand zameen par" (after Taare Zameen Par). In fact, Vishal told me that he'd help me distribute the film if I faced any problems."

Shoestring budget
The filmmaker is all praise for KJo: "Karan has been wonderful. My wife Deepa edited My Name Is Khan and has a family equation with Karan. I have edited Stanley Ka Dabba on Karan's editing machine in his office as I couldn't afford it. I could only shoot only during my workshops for four hours on Saturdays and Sundays and only with cameras and no lights."

Stanley Ka Dabba , sayss Amole, is a film about children bonding in school and during classes over food. "We've relived moments from our childhood in SKD. The film is seen from the perspective of a nine-year old child and the relationships he shares with his friends and teachers. When Karan saw the film with his childhood friend, they talked endlessly about school, teachers and childhood."

KJO Shows love
Stanley Ka Dabba is superb! I absolutely loved it. It's a true gem and Partho who plays Stanley is a revelation -- a boy wonder! The film takes you back to school in the most heartfelt way. The last 10 minutes of the film not only moves you to tears but also makes you think. It's a dabba that overflows with food for thought. If they need me I will always be there in whatever capacity they want me. It's important to support credible cinema."

From one camp to another.. Vishal likes SRK.. and Amol isn't too fond of Aamir.. so Kjo shows support..
