If fair skin was all it took, Jugal hansraj would have been an instant hit.

Oh Desu... What a coincidence... while writing my comment in the previous page Jugal was the first who came to mind..😆.
Then I just skipped him and added Dia etc names....

ok guys for the last time I wanted to say that one of the main reasons some one like Kat is so widely accepted by our audience is that she is fair-skinned. That is what I meant to say.

Phew

umm the fair skin is with respect to actresses and I totally agree with that

the kajol rani brigade got their push with being star kids..they dont count...
add to that the factor that kajol is whitened in most of her publicity stuff

dark skinned actresses are still not accepted not just in the hindi industry but all over india...

bipasha has struggled for years..sameera same case...

fair skin gets the initial attraction and if those movies work, you are labelled a lucky actress and u can survive for years even though acting sucks

Regarding bias based on color ... Yes... definitely it exists in the rest of India too and not just in Bollywood...

But in Bollywood... just the color alone wont get you on top... You need other factors too with it...
PC coming from no where with no filmy last name did make it big in B town.... Okay agree she is down a bit now bcoz of the SKM debacle but the fact is she is one of the top 3 actresses in B town......
Deepika is no star daughter.... She is a much sought after star today regardless of her not so light skin....

Not all fair-skinned gals raise public's interest. If that was the case then Yana Gupta who is Whiter than almost everyone else. bares herself like nobody's business and speaks with the same fluency as Katrina would have been a huge star. I also do not get this constant obsession with fair skin in Bollywood. All the current heroines are over 5 ft 6 in.. but no one says that shorter heroines have it tough in Bollywood.

Kat dont generalise, may be you havent lived in India to know how much discrimination Dark skinned girls face.

I'm myself fair skinned, but when I was at Delhi my colleague would come & tell me that they cant believe that South Indians can be fair as most S Indians are dark & dirty (thats what someone remarked).

Leave that even for marriage proposals they advertise as - need a girl fair & good looking.

My boss told a collegaue who was dark skinned that she should try using fair & Lovely as Clients may not like her appearance.

If people dont understand seriousness of an issue such as discrimination based on skin colour better not to comment on it.

Peace & OUT.

Just because people pick on dark skinned people, doesn't mean you guys pick on fair skinned. And Indians aren't the only ones who watch bollywood movies. So you are saying all people are obsessed with fair skin?

Kat ...skin color is a very pertinent and relevant issue in India.... Lot of bias... lots of insecurities... lot prejudice is associated with it...
The fair and lovely creams are the largest selling cosmetic in India....
Even in the work scenario... Many times the light skinned ones are prefered over the more qualified dusy skin ones...
In some PR companies etc where they have to interact with the customers only the light skin ones are hired... It is harsh but that is the truth....
So its fine to discuss it here...

PC is on a whining spree... 😉
IT mere peechay pad gaye, i'm overworked and underpaid, kareena doesn't like me, i was rejected in earlier years because of my skin, i'm single... 😭😭😭
please.... why just pick on bollywood though, colour discrimination is everywhere in every part of the world....!! if having fair skin was a "major" factor in getting accepted by audience, then there are plenty others besides katrina, kareena or even ash.... it's quite amusing how difficult it is for some to give credit where it's due... yes, they are all beautiful ladies, and while some may not like their personalities, they obviously do have a connect with their audience... otherwise, they would have faded into oblivion... it was their performances, or the movies in which they starred, that got them noticed.... not their fair skin... 😛😛😛
and if being a star son or daughter was the only requirement to stardom, then kajol or rani hi kyon... what about prathiba... she was mala sinha's daughter... TongueTongueTongue and i'm sure there were many others... and it's not there was no competition either.... and they are not the only ones, who were lightened in their movies... 😛😛😛
