The film is indeed jinxed. All this while, director Tarun Mansukhani was making every possible effort to get the right script for Dostana 2 but all in vain. It seems producer Karan Johar has finally decided to drop the film. KJo's banner Dharma Productions was co-producing the sequel with UTV. KJo did not shy away from giving reports to the media about preparations for the sequel being in full swing. However, Tarun has not been able to finalise a script that Karan is also happy with. Although the first half of the film has been locked and everyone is convinced, it is the second half that has been giving them trouble. The writers and Tarun are not able to put together a better second half than the original." Apparently, numerous drafts of the script were prepared but all were rejected one by one. The failed efforts are taking a toll on Karan's patience it seems; he wants to move on to making other films. The source added, "In fact, Karan, before making a recent trip to the US, heard the narration of another draft of the film but was not happy with it. Though KJo told Tarun to keep working on it, he is no longer keen to take it further." The Dostana sequel has been in the news for quite some time now. While the cast was being shuffled almost on a weekly basis, reports of the film going on floors this summer were doing the rounds in the media. Sadly, all attempts to get the film started seem to have failed. Neither Karan Johar nor Tarun Mansukhani reverted to our text messages. |
