A bitter turn of events
Samir Karnik and the Deols have severed all ties. The director may not make a Yamla Pagla Deewana sequel, despite its success at the box office
Despite the success of Yamla Pagla Deewana at the box office, a sequel of the film may not materialise. According to industry sources, the film's director Samir Karnik has had a fallout with the Deol family. Karnik had also directed Bobby Deol in Nanhe Jaiselmer. An ugly spat apparently triggered Karnik's fallout with the Deols. A source said, "The success of Yamla Pagla Deewana has gone to Karnik's head.
Karnik was even missing at the success party of Yamla Pagla Deewana, and they say he gave a lame excuse for not coming. You wonder what could have caused such a bitter fallout. Reportedly, at a recent party, Karnik passed a nasty comment, which irked Sunny Deol a lot. A source says, "At the party, Samir was in very high spirits and he suddenly made a snide remark about Sunny's family friend.
One of the guests who heard the remark immediately informed Sunny. A livid Sunny rushed to Karnik with the intention to punch him. But the director had the presence of mind to gather his wits and rush out." Despite repeated attempts Samir Karnik remained unavailable for comment. The Deols too remained unavailable for comment too. A livid Sunny rushed to Karnik with the intention to punch him.
