How does it feel when your film does well at the box office?
I feel very happy. My career has seen all ups and downs, so hits and flops don't affect me that much. I take it in the same way because success and failure are not permanent. I believe in working hard.
NOKJ was quite like a docu- drama film. What made you select this film?
I am a commercial heroine, and I always prefer doing commercial films because I need a larger audience. And it was not a docu-drama film. Today, films are changing. Films like this are also watched by the larger audience, and so, they are no more the art kind of films. People appreciate good and talented films. When an actor is working hard, it's for his audience, and today, they are appreciating it. NOKJ was a mixed film - it has the laughter part and the serious part, and melodrama as well.
What's the best compliment you have received for your character?
The best compliment which I have received is people telling me I am the hero of the film. They say that I have played the character truthfully, without copying or following anyone.
Today, there are so many new actresses in the industry. So are there less offers from the industry?
(Laughs) I don't want to do random films just because I have to do a film. I am fine if I am doing one film in a year. It does not affect me. But the film should be good; I should connect with the character and my audience should love it. I do a film when my gut tells me to do it.
What's next?
There is a film I have signed with Aamir Khan, but right now, I can't say anything about it.
