Ok so one thing I've noticed in Bollywood is that if you are of mixed heritage or aren't from India, you aren't very welcomed into industry. By 'welcome' I mean to say is that at first he/she gets his big break and gets remarkably noticed but soon after, their popularity seems to decrease year by year.

Dia Mirza who's half German/Bengali debuted in Rehna hai tere dil mein and I sincerly think she was pretty good in it; for a debutant. Dino Morea who's father is Italian and mother is Anglo/Indian didn't really get noticed in his debut film however his 3rd film, Raaz, was an instant hit. It was critically acclaimed and Dino was also praised for his acting. All of Shashi Kapoor's kids tried their luck but none of them had much of an impactful career even though their father was a superstar during the 60s and 70s. Now I know at least someone will point out Miss Kaif and how she's doing so well even though she isn't from India but how come she only made it this far?

Today, almost all of these mixed origin stars are no where to be found even though some of them have the talent, looks, etc. So my question is, is Bollywood somewhat I dunno, racist?

You have a point, but the others are forgettable or have not made a calculated move to imprint a certain image in the audience's head. Dia? Eh....she's pretty, is decent but has the media image of a rubber....no masala. Katrina is popular because she has consciously indianized herself to appeal to the masses. I conclude this because she did a complete 180 in her career choices after the debacle that was boom. Also, She can easily pass of as a light skinned indian. She does the typical commercial hindi movies, gives the typical seedhi saadhi bhartiya naari interviews, has the image of a loyal innocent gf to the big bad misunderstood wolf. Comeon...she's like the innocent nymph everyone wants to protect. So indian men fall flat at her feet every Friday. She's a knockout too.

Karan, Kunal, Sanjana mainly did non-commercial or theatre work, didn't they? Not to mention they looked more Nordic than Mediterranean/Indian. They were not very appealing to the masala movie watchers. Katrine has adapted and hence she rules.

Trying to rack my brain and think of someone else who's of mixed heritage but I'm coming up blank. I don't think they're racists, but perhaps Diya and Dino lacked that 'star quality' that people are always referring too. Or they just didn't friend up the right people :P

Bollywood has a fetish for fairskinned people in general.

WHat you are pointing out is a miniscule of the actors. out of the 4, 1 did well which is a good 25% success ratio. How many of the strugglers do well in reality?

shashi kapoor's children
- karan kapoor looks totally gora
-sanjana loves theatre too much
-the third one well just failed

:P

there are other mixed race stars not specifically bolly though
AMALA was quite successful down south. SHe is Half Irish

and she has a SUPERHOT SON! who is probably going to make his debut soon
naga akhil

HELEN- half burmese and the other half anglo

JOHN ABRAHAM- he is half parsi and half mallu. that still is mixed rase..isnt it? I dont think he needs a pic here

NADIRA
Indian Baghdadi Jewish actress of the the 50s i think

if we go into non lead roles, even feroze khan(fardeen's dad) is half afghani and half iranian. he did fairly well for himself too
