A very interesting topic indeed...
You know KKHH is one interesting story. What surprised me is that Rahul and Anjali didn't initially get married. Most of the times, a boy and a girl cannot be friends. Meaning that during one point in their friendship one of them has a feeling of love for the other. Therefore I was quite surprised that Anjali and Rahul didn't have any "love" feelings for each other before Tina came into the picture. Its hard being best friends with a guy (talking from experience). And in most cases friendship turns into love (pyar dosti hai) and then that turns into...well chaos let's just say. Rahul's main love interest was Tina. In her he saw a lot of qualities that made him fall for. I don't think Anjali initially had any strong feelings for Rahul. I think her feelings developed more after Rahul got closer to Tina. I felt that during the phase where Rahul moved closer to Tina, Anjali had started to realize her affection towards Rahul. However, by that time it was too late because Rahul was already in love with Tina. After Tina's death, Rahul became lonely. He still had his mother and daughter to be around with, but the emptiness of Tina had really impacted him. No, I do not believe that his feelings for Anjali were as strong as his feelings for Tina. But because the two (Anjali & Rahul) had been best friends for so long, somewhere in the journey he felt a little love for Anjali. And I think he truly only loved Tina (because of the dialogue portrayed in the movie). I think his marriage to Anjali was a combination of his daughter's efforts and the fact that he wanted his daughter to have a mother's blessing and not feel the emptiness of a mother. A mother daughter relationship is a very strong one. It is very hard for a girl to live without a mother. So I think all those emotions just built up and the girl's efforts brought Rahul and Anjali closer and that's where they began feeling the passion and love for each other. Anjali had always truly loved Rahul. But Rahul's first love had always remained Tina. In Anjali he found his Tina. And even though he loved Anjali, I don't think he loved her in the same exact way he loved Tina. But he saw a lot of resemblance in the two and therefore married Anjali to bring back the happiness of his daughter & himself.
Cutie, I actually completely disagree with your post. And this might turn out to be a useless discussion but when it concerns Rahul-Anjali I gotta step in 😆
Sometimes it takes somebody else to make you realize how much you actually love a person. I think Rahul-Anjali always loved each other from the start, but both took each other way too much for granted--they were BEST friends--and hence never realized it. Anjali never realized her love before even though Rahul was a big flirt because Rahul never actually showed any real interest in anybody until Tina arrived. And Anjali didn't even truly realize until the end of Koi Mil Gaya song where Rahul asked Tina for a dance instead of her..she felt bad and was somewhat jealous..and then to get Rahul's attention back she tried to become like Tina not realizing that Rahul loves her for who she is..So I don't think her feelings developed when Tina came into the picture, I think she truly realized it then..her realization started when Rahul said pyaar dosti hai in Ms. Briganza's class.
Tina was that college hottie who didn't fall all over him like the others did. She was different and cultured as well--which attracted him towards her and eventually he fell in love with her. She was girly. Anjali was of the guys, a tomboy, buddy buddy..he never even looked at her in that way consciously, subconsciously I think he had.
I think ever since Anjali left he always missed her immensely..but never said anything--I think that was a dialogue in the movie as well. I actually think him practicing basketball everyday is a big proof of his feelings for Anjali..after she left, basketball was the only way he could stay connected to her..and he practiced religiously hoping that one day he will meet her again.
And I firmly believe he married Anjali because HE loved her. The plus point was that both Anjali's got along like a house on fire. If it was just for his daughter, then why did he shy away from marriage for 8 long years? He could have married much earlier..
Also I don't think he was looking for Tina in Anjali..he loved both separately and in different ways. I don't believe you can love 2 lovers in the same way..In the end what I am trying to say is that Rahul-Anjali always loved each other from the start..but where Anjali realized her feelings in college, it took Rahul much longer to really realize his..He fell in love with Tina married her and then she died..leaving him lonely..His attraction for Anjali was building up or coming out to the forefront when he saw her again after 8 years.
To sum up, I think somebody else put it in a nice way:
With Tina: it was physical attraction and then emotional attachment
With Anjali: it was emotional attachment and then physical attraction
Whew..this is one LONG post..😆
