Oh man...if Krissh in the end result, I'd rather bollywood keep far far away from attempting films liek Inception.
Another point I completely agree with Aamir and Masand on is the "dumbing down" of ideas and films.

Look at the so called "critically acclaimed" makers and movies. Makers liek Madhur Bhandarkar are considered intelligent film makers in the public eye (and they are far better than majority of directors), but his movies are flanked by stereotypes. Heavy stereotypes.
I mean, its not like his films challenge the audience to think a different way. Or to grasp another perspective of a situation. But Madhur in a way "Dumbs down" ideas so they are simplistic, stereotypical, something that our desi audiences can relate to or understand. Almost like something they wanna see. I dunno if what i just said makes sense, but i'm trying to relay it in words, lol.

The only few makers worth considering "genius" in bollywood are Vishal Bharadwaj, to an extent, Sriram Raghavan. Mani ratnam in some instances (lets not think raavan now, lol)
I also love Nigesh Kohinoor (is that his name?) style of movie making.

Ofcourse, this is nothing compared to hollywood films still. Why am I even blaming directors here? I think the main blame also falls on writers.
Where's the creativity? Like Aamir said...imagine first. Then worry about execution. I mean the limit of our imagination extends to what? Terrorism?

But then Aamir also made an excellent point about the audience. That the desi audience is completely different from Western audiences. Those people are far more open to different ideas/possibilities, etc.

I guess with our social structure, "gharelu" films or love stories are the safest bets. Hmm..

ok coming back to the serious discussion😉..umm let me see..i'll try to explain..but not sure if i can explain it right..

i loved bat man, super man n all the cool super hero H'wood flicks 4m the time i was a kid..n now came a Krish..n i was expecting to see another 'superman'..n all i got was Krish! oops i mean if i can rate superman '1000000000000000000000000' ..i'll rate krish 0.0000000001...

hope u get wt we mean..so the same can happen to Inception f they remade it..

plus im not a Hrithik hater..i love his early films until abt 2004..but Krish was a bunch of garbage for me with monkey like jumping around scenes..
u dont agree..then don't..let me have my opinion pls.. so pls don't bother picking each line n dissecting it in to pieces..

Ditto! I was really excited about Krrish as it was a sequel to KMG and hrithik was Fab in KMG but Krrish!! OMG!! It was a complete TORTURE, while exiting from theatre i had a headache, i just wanted to see the ending and leave. Krrish cannot be compare with Hollywood flicks like Batman, Superman. I love 80's version of Superman the actor who has passed away, his version of Superman was fab! But Inception if far from our imagination and i am so proud of Inception team, they all worked very hard and the background music was perfect!

That was more of a tongue-in-cheek remark. The point was that Bollywood has attempted to replicate many Hollywood movies with mostly poor results.

I dont think bollywood needs to do such films..im happy with what they r coming out with all these years..we have quiet a lot of great bolluwood films...let hollywood do wat hey r good at and let bollywood continue at wat they r good at.

Aamir sense of cinema is much higher than any one in bollywood he is part of some unique product like RDB, TZP , LAGAAN , DCH and PEEPLI LIVE if he agreed on that we not give enough respect to our writers than how you expect some good peace of writing and imaginations

i am not picking on anyone!! i just dun see the comparison between inception and krrish--krish was never meant to be intelligent and to tell u the truth neither is superman or batman for me those movies r garbage atleast krrish had sum soul in it and it was a bollywood production---it was not suppose to be a replica of a hollywood supehero film! and i dun seen why a gragbage movie will becum such a huge hit! i mean yeh one might not like it, everyone has a different opinion, but calling it garbage altogether is really degrading the indian audience. I dunno maybe wid time it has started to seem lame, i dunno, but around that time i and all of the peeps i watched it wid in sydney loved itt!!! i think around that time i found it as a huge revelation! i thought it was entertaining, indian at heart, wid good stunts, and a good story, and i also liked nasreedin in the movie!! and i just dropped dead seeing hrithik' martial arts skills, and i was soo proud of the fact that hrithik actually jumped of 16feet buildings wid a cable wire!! none of the hollywood superheros do that becxause they have the technology! u cud really say that 'they dared to dream!'---like aamir rightfully said that we need to think only and ways will cum about!! maybe the technology or intricacy of bollywood concept is not great but i hold my opinion on the fact that they are the most entertaining and enjoyable!!---atleast for me!!!--i feel good and happy after watching a bolly film!! i dun think hollywood can make movies like fanna, lagaan, the legend of bhagat singh, veer zarra, dhoom 2, kaho na pyar hai, kuch kuch hota hai,k dil to pagal hai, ddlj, Devdas---when it cums to romance and entertainment---we r the best!!!

Why don't our film makers make movies on countless stories, novels in our own country, we don't even need to borrow/steal from foreign sources. For example maybe make a movie on Nirmala (a Hindi novel written by Munshi Premchand)...but then knowing our "multiplex" janta and its taste, it may not work.
